    Death, Burial AND Resurrection
    死亡、埋葬和复活

Philippians 3:9,10: …and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own from the law, but one that is through faith in Christ—the righteousness from God based on faith. My goal is to know him and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings, being conformed to his death
    腓立比书 3:9,10: 与我成为义人不是因为遵行律法,而是因为信靠基督。这义从上帝而来,以信为基础。 我渴望认识基督和祂复活的大能,与祂一同受苦,甚至到死的地步。 (page 1905)

Matthew 5:3: God blesses those people who depend only on him. They belong to the kingdom of heaven!
    馬 太 福 音 5:3: 知道自己在属灵境界中有需求的人受到祝福,
    因为天国属于他们;(page 1563)
Phil 3:20,21: Our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly wait for a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ. He will transform the body of our humble condition into the likeness of his glorious body, by the power that enables him to subject everything to himself.
    腓立比书 3:20,21: 我们却是天上的国民,殷切等候从天降临的救主,就是主耶稣基督。 那时,祂要以降服万物的大能将我们这卑贱的躯体改变成像祂那样荣耀的身体。(page 1906)
Gal 5:24: Keep in mind that we who belong to Jesus Christ have already experienced crucifixion. For everything connected with our self-life was put to death on the cross and crucified with Messiah.
    加拉太书 5:24: 那些属基督的人已经把罪恶的本性和本性里的邪情私欲都钉在十字架上了。(page 1892)
Col 3:2: Give your heart to the heavenly things, not to the passing things of earth.
    歌罗西书 3:2: 你们要思想天上的事,而不是地上的事 (page 1911)

    Death, Burial AND Resurrection
    Phil 3:7-11
“I heard about this man named, Bubba. He lived way out of the country. There’s this stray dog that kept showing up at his house. His wife said, “Bubba, you have to put the dog in the truck and take him out to the woods and drop him off. That’s where he lives.”
Bubba drove him a mile down the road, dropped him off. When he came back home, the dog was walking up the driveway - practically beating him back.
He did the same thing, it happened again.
His wife said, “Bubba, you have to take him way out. Drive him around in circles, get him mixed up.”
Bubba drove him an hour away - crisscrossed country roads he’s never driven before, dropped the dog off. Two hours later, Bubba called his wife from the truck and said, “Did that dog make it back home?”
She said, “Yeah, here comes walking up.”
Bubba said, “Do me a favor. Put him on the line. I need directions. “
We all need directions to help find our way sometimes.
Our choice of directions shapes our lives. Maybe we need a better sense of direction.
Our lives are but a mist - We don’t have a lot of time.
“For now my place is in him, and I am not dependent upon any of the self-achieved righteousness of the Law. God has given me that genuine righteousness which comes from faith in Christ. How changed are my ambitions! Now I long to know Christ and the power shown by his resurrection: now I long to share his sufferings, even to die as he died, so that I may perhaps attain as he did, the resurrection from the dead.”
Dare we look beyond this mortal coil to see the object of our faith in Jesus Christ?
Something bigger – something eternal? “This world is not my home.”
We may be at a point in history where our full focus needs to now be on the end game.
What should we do with the time we have left?
Resurrection Sunday is still a few weeks, away, but we cannot delay our own death, burial and resurrection, for we know not how much time we have left.
The End Game our full focus needs to now be on the end game
“In 2004 I was delivered from a bondage to sports”
I think I can relate to that from last December’s SEC championship that ripped my heart out, but all of us college football fans know that feeling at one time or another.
From an NFL perspective, I remember in 2017 when the Falcons looked like a sure-thing to finally win a Super Bowl – and not just ANY Super Bowl – they were going to beat Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.
“We’re really going to DO this – we’re going to be Super Bowl Champs!” (I thought)
Then, we watched New England overcome a 25-point deficit and win the biggest comeback in (at that time) the Super Bowl’s 51-year history.
In life, just like in sports, we may think we’re winning when in fact, we are missing the bigger picture – the end-game.
The summation of all our life’s energies and efforts.
People often evaluate their life’s success by having. By the things they have.
    But what about the withouts?
Without regrets. Without missing our opportunities to love, to serve, to encourage.
    We don’t get a “do-over.”
We may think we look really great in the third quarter, but when we start to see the clock run out, what will we regret? What were our real contributions?
How much time do we have left to make heavenly deposits using these earthly bodies?
How many more Lenten seasons, how many more Easters, will we see?
? What inside of us is driving all the choices we make?
Chinese Proverb: “If you want to be full, first let yourself be empty.”
Puritan Prayer: “Let me be full, let me be empty.”
“You’re full of it!” – but what are we full of?
“Set you affections on things above”
You can’t carry the old person into your New Life.
What OLD things (objectives, passions) are you still holding on to? ( )
What do you need to finally just let go of?
There may be a clinging – there may be a bit of fear – but it can be overcome.
You and I can do this. When we are weak- He is strong
John 3:30: He must Increase – We must Decrease
we may actually have to release some of our personal goals.
God will help us “Just because You love me”
Declare your Liberty – even now.
“Old things are passed away – ALL things have become New!”
Chinese Proverb: “If you want to become whole, first let yourself be broken.”
Jesus: “Blessed are the poor in spirit – those who recognize their (desperate) need for God.”
“God blesses those people who depend only on him. They belong to the kingdom of heaven!”
“For things to change – I have to change.”
…and from a Believer’s perspective – I have to ALLOW myself to BE Changed!
Change is necessary – AND – Change is possible!
“My passion is to be consumed with him and not cling to my own “righteousness” based in keeping the written Law. My only “righteousness” will be His, based on the faithfulness of Jesus Christ—the very righteousness that comes from God.”
In Christ I have a righteousness that is not my own and that does not come from the Law but rather from the faithfulness of Christ.
Jesus is the firstborn of the resurrection
Phil 3:20,21: Our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly wait for a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ. He will transform the body of our humble condition into the likeness of his glorious body, by the power that enables him to subject everything to himself.
“He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control.”
To have a Resurrection, we first must have a crucifixion
    “Crucify the flesh”
Gal 5:24: Keep in mind that we who belong to Jesus Christ have already experienced crucifixion. For everything connected with our self-life was put to death on the cross and crucified with Messiah.
…and that same chapter tells us we must “walk by the Spirit.”
If we don’t - what’s the other option? we walk after the flesh:
Phil 3:19: They are headed for destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth.
“this world is the limit of their horizon”
Focus on what has Eternal Weight (what will matter in eternity?)
Stress can result from an addiction to the outcome
This would have to originate from temporal, earthly goals and desires
We need the proper Investment Strategy
    “Storing up treasures in heaven”
Jesus: “Don’t keep hoarding for yourselves earthly treasures that can be stolen by thieves. Material wealth eventually rusts, decays, and loses its value. Instead, stockpile heavenly treasures for yourselves that cannot be stolen and will never rust, decay, or lose their value. For your heart will always pursue what you esteem as your treasure.”
James 1:12: If your faith remains strong, even while surrounded by life’s difficulties, you will continue to experience the untold blessings of God! True happiness comes as you pass the test with faith, and receive the victorious crown of life promised to every lover of God!
Jesus is the firstborn of the resurrection, and we are to follow Him one day. Maybe very soon.
What will we experience on the other side of this short life, with all of its distractions and temptations?
Will we hear, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant?”
What is our end game? Where are our eternal investments?
Col 3:2: Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
We’re all walking on a path. Where will that path lead?
We travel (we go) in the direction we are looking.
If something is not right, maybe we are looking in the wrong direction.
“So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective.”
Mark 8:34: 'If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.”
