    Comfort Zone
    Psalm 118:13-17

comfort zone: The range of circumstances in which a person feels relaxed or able to cope
the level at which one functions with ease and familiarity
Everyone has some sort of comfort zone – whether they realize if or not
It acts the same way a thermostat does. It adjusts quickly to bring things back to that comfort level if things get too hot or too cold – or even too good or too bad.
We know we have to be blessed to be a blessing, and Jesus told us “ask and you shall receive.”
In James it says “You do not have because you do not ask God.”
From Your Body is God’s Temple: “Hope for the believers is not an illusion. It is the assurance that good things are going to happen based upon the promises in God’s Word.”
Heb 11:1 – “Faith is the assurance of things you have hoped for, the absolute conviction that there are realities you’ve never seen.”
Our prayers and our confessions must be mixed with real faith.
Open-hearted expectation of the good God has planned for us.
When Jabez prayed, “Lord, that you would bless me indeed, that you would enlarge my territory” the Word tells us in 1 Chron 4:10, “And God granted him his request.”
“And God gave him what he asked for.”
If Jabez did not enlarge the borders of his heart to receive this, he would have found a way to offset these new blessings and his life would have quickly reverted back to his former state.
He had to be transformed in the inner man. He needed his mind (heart) renewed.
He had to get beyond his comfort zone.

Jim Rohn: "You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself. That is something you have charge of."
God says, (Isaiah 54:2) “Make your tent bigger. Open your doors wide. Don’t think small! Make your tent large and strong…”

In other words, “It’s time to break out of your comfort zone and start to believe for more”

Marcus Aurelius: The things you think about determine the quality of your mind.

Are we feeding our faith – or our doubts?
Are we watering the seed of God’s higher calling, purpose and plans for our lives, or are we letting our comfort zone limit us to the all-too familiar past?
What is our heart’s thermostat set for?
“We are either moving in the direction of our memories or our inspiration.”
“This is the confidence we have in Him…”
David declared his confidence in his God:
David proclaimed: “I will not die; instead, I will live to tell what the LORD has done.”
That is the voice of forward-looking faith.

“Faith is the assurance of things you have hoped for”
We’ve got to learn to operate from that Blessed Assurance

Thoughts create feelings, and feelings create corresponding actions
“We are either moving in the direction of our memories or our inspiration.”
We’ve got to assume the “posture of faith.”
If we want things to change… if we are ready for a “season of change” -
we’ve got to plant the seeds for change.

It means breaking out of our history – out of our comfort zones – enlarging the borders of our tents

“We are either moving in the direction of our memories or our inspiration.”
Heb 10:39 - But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved.

Eph 2:8 – “ …by grace you have been saved, through faith”

We cannot stand still any longer

? Do we shrink back in fear like so much of the world
…or are we ready to step out in faith?

Do you dare ask and believe for more? – so you can be more – and do more?
A bigger blessing to more people?

Matt 21:22 – “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."

God says, (Isaiah 54:2) “Make your tent bigger. Open your doors wide. Don’t think small! Make your tent large and strong…”

? What are a few ways we can begin to do that starting right now?

Expand your comfort zone regarding overcoming your weaknesses:
Philippians 2:13: For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.

Expand your comfort zone regarding regaining your vitality:
Romans 8:11 - The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.

Expand your comfort zone regarding Aging:
Joshua 14:10, 11: (Caleb) "Now then, just as the LORD promised, he has kept me alive for forty-five years since the time he said this to Moses, while Israel moved about in the wilderness. So here I am today, eighty-five years old! I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out; I'm just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then."

If we want a different crop we have to plant new seeds
Jesus taught us the Kingdom principle: “The sower sows the Word”
We need to sow it into our hearts and sow it from our mouths

Heb 10:23: Let us hold strong to the confession of our hope, never wavering, since the One who promised it to us is faithful.

    Psalm 107: 20-22: He sent out his word and healed them;
he rescued them from the grave.
Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love
and his wonderful deeds for mankind.
    Let them sacrifice thank offerings
and tell of his works with songs of joy.
