Jesus
is
the
Door
John
10:7-11
Have
you
ever
passed
excitedly
through
a
gate
or a
turnstile
that
you
knew,
once
you
passed
through
it,
you
were
entering
a
special
place
– or
even
a
new
life?
Essentially,
my
favorite
part
of
an
ocean
cruise
is
that
moment
you
cross
over
the
bridge
(the
gateway)
and
onto
the
ship.
At
that
moment,
it
all
began
–
and
you
knew
great
things
were
ahead.
Maybe
you
remember
that
feeling
going
through
the
gate
to
the
county
fair,
or
into
the
stadium
to
see
your
favorite
team
play?
There
are
times
when
passing
through
a
door
or
gate
make
a
huge
shift
in
your
attitude
– or
even
your
life.
There
is
one
gate
that
we
need
to
pass
through
that
makes
an
eternal
difference.
What
we
are
seeking
in
life,
only
Jesus
can
fulfill.
Jesus
tells
us:
HE
is
the
Door
John
10:9:
: “I
Am
the
gate.
Whoever
enters
through
Me
will
be
saved.
They
will
be
able
to
come
in
and
go
out.
They
will
find
everything
they
need.”
I Am
the
Gateway.
To
enter
through
Me
is
to
experience
life,
freedom,
and
satisfaction.
We
are
moving
closer
and
closer
to
that
annual
event
we
call
Good
Friday,
where
we
will
witness
our
redemption
from
all
the
sin
debt
we
could
never
repay.
“Sin
hath
left
a
crimson
stain,
He
washed
it
white
as
snow.”
Week
Four
of
Lent:
Give
Up.
“What
are
you
giving
up
for
Lent?”
Surrender
your
life
and
your
will
to
the
only
One
Who
can
Save
You
–
Christ
the
Redeemer
“The
art
of
surrender
is
the
art
of
getting
out
of
the
way
of
your
own
growth.”
Because
God
loved
us,
He
became
the
gate
(the
door)
that
would
lead
us
out
of
darkness
and
into
His
marvelous
light
1
Cor
1:6
For
the
reality
of
the
truth
of
Christ
is
seen
among
you
and
strengthened
through
your
experience
of
him.
“May
you
know
the
Love
of
Christ…”
“just
because
You
love
me…”
“He
loved
us
and
gave
Himself
for
us…”
Romans
5:11:
And
even
more
than
that,
we
overflow
with
triumphant
joy
in
our
new
relationship
of
living
reconciled
to
God—all
because
of
Jesus
Christ!
Redemptive
Grace
it
is
the
grace
that
God
is
offering
us –
the
free
and
unmerited
favour
of
God.
Jesus
shines
with
the
unconditional
love
of
God
and
offers
us
redeeming
grace,
the
free
and
unmerited
favour
of
God.
We
don’t
need
to
do
anything
to
deserve
it
or
earn
it;
God
offers
it
to
us
freely.
Because
we
are
offered
this
grace,
we
are
redeemed.
That
is,
we
are
not
left
to
our
own
devices.
We
are
not
left
without
guidance
or
direction
in
our
lives.
We
are
called
into
active
relationship
with
God
by
following
Jesus.
We
might
not
be
able
to
describe
grace,
but
we
know
it
when
we
see
it
or
feel
it.
Face
It:
We
need
Redemption.
We
need
to
be
redeemed.
We
need
Redemptive
Grace
Have
you
ever
had
a
“great
evening,”
only
to
wake
up
the
next
morning
(or
in
the
middle
of
the
night)
and
thought,
“Oh,
my –
what
have
I
done?”
(cinnamon
rolls)
• It
could
be
that
empty
tub
of
ice
cream,
or
that
crumpled
bag
of
chips
•
That
all-night
Netflix
binge
watch
– or
maybe
…it
was
something
much
more
destructive?

Our
carnal
nature
is
destroying
us,
and
yet,
Jesus
is
the
door
to
moving
beyond
that
fate.
We
have
a
real
HOPE.
His
Redemptive
Grace
not
only
offers
us
the
gift
of
salvation,
but
also
the
power
through
that
same
grace
to
rise
above
our
own
weakness
and
destructive
patterns
and
cross
through
the
gateway
to
freedom
and
deliverance..
One
day
you
feel
trapped
and
hopeless,
and
then
the
Light
appears
to
you
The
word
redeem
means
“to
buy
out.”
If
we
are
“redeemed,”
God
has
purchased
our
freedom,
and
we
are
no
longer
in
bondage
to
sin,
or
even
to
the
Old
Testament
law.
Also
related
to
the
Christian
concept
of
redemption
is
the
word
ransom.
Jesus
paid
the
price
for
our
release
from
sin
and
its
punishment
The
streets
of
heaven
will
be
filled
with
former
captives
who,
through
no
merit
of
their
own,
find
themselves
redeemed,
forgiven,
and
free.
Those
who
were
once
slaves
to
sin
have
now
become
saints.
No
wonder
we
will
sing
a
new
song—a
song
of
praise
to
Christ
Jesus,
the
Redeemer
who
was
slain.
Rev
5:9:
They
sang
a
new
song
and
these
are
the
words
they
sang,
“You
are
worthy
to
take
the
scroll,
and
to
open
its
seals;
for
you
were
slain,
and
have
redeemed
us
to
God
by
your
blood
out
of
every
tribe
and
tongue
and
people
and
nation,
and
have
made
us
kings
and
priests
to
our
God;
and
we
shall
reign
on
the
earth.”
We
were
slaves
to
sin,
condemned
to
eternal
separation
from
God.
Jesus
paid
the
price
to
redeem
us,
resulting
in
our
freedom
from
slavery
to
sin
and
our
rescue
from
the
eternal
consequences
of
that
sin.
We
all
need
Redemptive
Grace
Romans
3:21-24:
But
now,
independently
of
the
law,
the
righteousness
of
God
is
tangible
and
brought
to
light
through
Jesus,
the
Anointed
One.
This
is
the
righteousness
that
the
Scriptures
prophesied
would
come.
It
is
God’s
righteousness
made
visible
through
the
faithfulness
of
Jesus
Christ.
And
now
all
who
believe
in
him
receive
that
gift.
For
there
is
really
no
difference
between
us,
for
we
all
have
sinned
and
are
in
need
of
the
glory
of
God.
Yet
through
his
powerful
declaration
of
acquittal,
God
freely
gives
away
his
righteousness.
His
gift
of
love
and
favor
now
cascades
over
us,
all
because
Jesus,
the
Anointed
One,
has
liberated
us
from
the
guilt,
punishment,
and
power
of
sin!
(let’s
review)
(21)
But
now,
independently
of
the
law
(because
we
could
not
save
ourselves
by
good
behavior)
(22-24)
The
righteousness
of
God
is
through
faith
in
Jesus
Christ
to
all
who
believe,
since
there
is
no
distinction.
For
all
have
sinned
and
fall
short
of
the
glory
of
God;
they
are
justified
freely
by
his
grace
through
the
redemption
that
is
in
Christ
Jesus.
•
they
are
justified
freely
by
his
grace
•
through
the
redemption
that
is
in
Christ
Jesus.
And
now
all
who
believe
in
him
receive
that
gift.
For
there
is
really
no
difference
between
us,
for
we
all
have
sinned
and
are
in
need
of
the
glory
of
God.
Yet
through
his
powerful
declaration
of
acquittal,
God
freely
gives
away
his
righteousness.
Jesus
has
liberated
us
from
the
guilt,
punishment,
and
power
of
sin!
Jesus
is
the
Door
to
Abundant
Life
–
through
His
Redemptive
Grace
1
Cor
1:30,31:
For
it
is
not
from
man
that
we
draw
our
life
but
from
God
as
we
are
being
joined
to
Jesus,
the
Anointed
One.
And
now
he
is
our
God-given
wisdom,
our
virtue,
our
holiness,
and
our
redemption.
And
this
fulfills
what
is
written:
If
anyone
boasts,
let
him
only
boast
in
all
that
the
Lord
has
done!
“You
are
partners
with
Christ
Jesus
because
of
God.
Jesus
has
become
our
wisdom
sent
from
God,
our
approval,
our
holiness,
and
our
ransom
from
sin.”
MSG:
Everything
that
we
have—right
thinking
and
right
living,
a
clean
slate
and
a
fresh
start—comes
from
God
by
way
of
Jesus
Christ.
Jesus
is
the
Doorway
to a
New
Life
John
10:9:
: “I
am
the
gate.
Whoever
enters
through
me
will
be
saved.
They
will
be
able
to
come
in
and
go
out.
They
will
find
everything
they
need.”
So,
there
is a
door
we
must
walk
through.
A
gate
to
pass
through.
•
Which
side
of
the
door
on
you
on
today?
•
Have
you
stepped
through
that
doorway?
•
What
might
be
holding
you
back
from
making
that
decision?
John
5:24:
“Truly
I
tell
you,
anyone
who
hears
my
word
and
believes
him
who
sent
me
has
eternal
life
and
will
not
come
under
judgment
but
has
passed
from
death
to
life.”
Jesus
stands
at
the
door
of
our
hearts
and
knocks
There
is
no
more
time
to
delay
making
the
most
important
decision
you
will
ever
make.
Now
is
the
time,
today
is
the
day.
Romans
5:17:
For
if,
by
the
trespass
of
the
one
man,
death
reigned
through
that
one
man,
how
much
more
will
those
who
receive
God’s
abundant
provision
of
grace
and
of
the
gift
of
righteousness
reign
in
life
through
the
one
Man,
Jesus
Christ.
