Isaiah 53:3: He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.

Isaiah 53:6: But he was hurt because of us; he suffered so. Our wrongdoing wounded and crushed him. He endured the breaking that made us whole. The injuries he suffered became our healing.
(page 1201)
Heb 12:2: We must never stop looking to Jesus. He is the leader of our faith, and he is the one who makes our faith complete. He suffered death on a cross. But he accepted the shame of the cross as if it were nothing because of the joy he could see waiting for him. And now he is sitting at the right side of God’s throne.
(pg 1955)
Heb 10:14: With one sacrifice Christ made his people perfect forever. They are the ones who are being made holy.
(page 1951)

Romans 8:32: He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
(page 1833)

    despised and rejected
    Isaiah 53

Audio Book Summaries: “Stop Checking Your Likes”

“Stop Checking Your Likes” is not really about social media – but only as a metaphor for our desire to be approved of.
    Everyone wants approval.

Rejection hurts. In sales, you have to recognize you may get a lot of “nos” (rejection) before you complete a sale. A good salesperson knows that is part of the process.

But for many of us, a little rejection goes a long way. We can quickly begin to identify it as we are unworthy – or unlovable. If you are rejected by your parents in your formative years, it will stick with you for life. (without God’s help)

? Have you been rejected in such a negative and life-altering way that it seemingly forever shaped how you thought about yourself or your future?

Don’t let a little rejection cause you to lose your FOCUS

You have to look beyond it. It works in sales - and it works with any life goals that are in line with YOUR purpose,
We must stand firm in our resolve to press on, even if other people don’t understand it

Jesus stood firm in His mission to redeem humanity through His own suffering on the cross

Heb 12:2: We look away from the natural realm and we focus our attention and expectation onto Jesus who birthed faith within us and who leads us forward into faith’s perfection. His example is this: Because his heart was focused on the joy of knowing that you would be his, he endured the agony of the cross and conquered its humiliation, and now sits exalted at the right hand of the throne of God!

Jesus endured rejection and crucifixion because of His ultimate goal – His purpose

Rejection is betrayal – or it at least feels that way
When those who were with us are suddenly against us
The words spoken behind our backs that come to light

HE was rejected… so that we could be accepted.

Our hearts need to be healed – our souls restored, so our purpose and be fulfilled in this short time we have to make it all happen

Prov 18:14: The will to live sustains you when you’re sick, but depression crushes courage and leaves you unable to cope.

Through the cross, we can rise above the rejection and replace dis-couragement with true courage (again)

“May you know the Love of Christ…”

reconcile: to restore to friendship or harmony

Romans 5:11: And even more than that, we overflow with triumphant joy in our new relationship of living reconciled to God—all because of Jesus Christ!

Jesus endured our rejection that we might have His acceptance.
All the evil came upon Jesus that all the good might be offered to you and me.

You may have felt rejected – but In Christ You are Accepted

Heb 10:14: With one sacrifice Christ made his people perfect forever. They are the ones who are being made holy.

It is God’s righteousness made visible through the faithfulness of Jesus Christ. And now all who believe in him receive that gift. For there is really no difference between us, for we all have sinned and are in need of the glory of God. Yet through his powerful declaration of acquittal, God freely gives away his righteousness.

Today is Palm Sunday. Jesus is on the way to complete His mission here on earth.

(from Matt 21’s account) First they heard the noise of the crowd, the cheering and shouting. As they drew closer they could hear what everyone was saying: "The King is coming! The King is coming! The King is coming!"
More curious than ever, they pressed forward to see what was happening.

Some people were tearing off their coats and throwing them in the road. Others were scrambling up trees to pull down the branches. Children lined the city streets, waving their victory branches and singing, "Hosanna! Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!"

Then they saw the king himself—a man on a donkey, the symbol of royal authority, coming in peace. Grabbing the nearest elbow, they pointed to the gentle rider and demanded, "Who is this?" The crowds answered, "This is Jesus"

That is what happened on the first Palm Sunday, the day Jesus entered Jerusalem "gentle and riding on a donkey."

…and yet, we know, in the ultimate demonstration of cruel rejection, the same people who praised the King that day would, in just a few days, scream, “Crucify Him!”

Most people are at least historically aware of Jesus’ bodily suffering

Yet, His sufferings in soul and spirit were not any less severe.

His disciples fled; some hid themselves, one betrayed Him, and some even denied Him. How lonely and rejected He was on that bloody cross.

When we go through a trial, we tend to ask ourselves, “Does God really love me? How come I don’t seem to see it?”

When that happens, it is time to bring in the cross, for God’s love for you is displayed forever at the cross.

God gave up His Son to suffer and die on the cross for you.

“just because You love me…” “He loved us and gave Himself for us…”

Jesus was pierced in seven places for you — in His head by the crown of thorns, His two hands and feet by the nails, and His side and heart by the spear of a Roman soldier.

Jesus wore the crown of thorns on His head so that you can have a sound mind free from fears, guilt, depression, anxieties and stress.

When Jesus first showed His nail-pierced hands to His disciples, He said to them, “Peace be with you.” (John 20:19–20)

He wanted them to know that peace is found in His finished work, typified by His pierced hands.

The more you see His finished work which has bought complete forgiveness of all your sins, the more your conscience will be at peace and rest.

Jesus’ feet brought Him to places where there was lack, diseases, rejection, condemnation and even death. And those feet were nail-pierced so that you do not need to be in such places yourself.
He has rescued you from having to accept and suffer these things in life.

Many of you are familiar with the famous painting “Divine Mercy”

John 19:34: …one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water.

Blood and water flowed out of Jesus’ side when it was pierced. (John 19:34)

Medical science will tell you that that means His heart had ruptured.

Jesus died literally of a broken heart so that your heart can be filled with joy.

The only man-made things in heaven today are those scars on His body. They will remain forever as tokens of His everlasting love and passion for you.

So (as it says in Romans 8:32) if God did not spare His Son, but delivered Him up for you, how will He not with Him also freely give you all things?!

God’s love for you is displayed forever at the cross.

Can you accept this free love gift today?

This love can heal your broken heart, deliver you out of bitterness and condemnation and restore your sense of purpose in your life.

You can live a higher purpose than before.

A strong enough “Why” will birth the “How”

Imagine waking up tomorrow with your “why” back at the forefront of your heart and mind (once again)

Jesus paid it all. He came to give you and abundant life.

Romans 8:32 says: He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
