    More Than These
    Col 3:23,24

Don’t forget to follow the instructions.
How many times have I had to finally start over because I didn’t read the instructions the first time?
There are two ways we can do something –
    1. By our own strength power, knowledge and skills
    2. By God’s empowerment (anointing)

Our lives are shaped by moments of awareness and revelation.
    • We cannot expect Divine Revelation to be what we imagine.
If it was, there would be no need of Divine Revelation at all.
GOD has something better and even bigger in His plans for us.
Resurrection Sunday was last Sunday. Now we move forward.
? What about after the original Resurrection Sunday?
While they were fishing, Jesus appeared to them. Following their breakfast, Jesus very appropriately asked Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than (you love) these things (your fishing nets and equipment)?”—that is, “Are you going back to your former trade or will you continue to follow me?”
Do you love me more than these things?
“These things” could be, for us, our usual way of doing things.
    Traditions of men.

Mark 7:5-9: So the Pharisees and religious scholars asked Jesus, “Why don’t your disciples live according to the age-old traditions passed down by our elders? They should first ceremonially wash their hands before eating.” Jesus replied, “You are hypocrites! How accurately did Isaiah prophesy about you phonies when he said: ‘These people honor me with their words while their hearts run far away from me! Their worship is nothing more than a charade! For they continue to insist that their man-made traditions are equal to the instructions of God.’
“You abandon God’s commandments just to keep men’s rituals, such as ceremonially washing utensils, cups, and other things.”
Then he added, “How skillful you’ve become in rejecting God’s law in order to maintain your man-made set of rules.
‘You have stopped obeying God. Instead you obey the ideas that men teach.’

Doctrines of men. of Modern Culture. Pleasing man rather than God.
Col 2:8: Be careful not to let anyone rob you of this faith through a shallow and misleading philosophy. Such a person follows human traditions and the world’s way of doing things rather than following Christ.
Col 3:23,24: Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.
Put your heart and soul into every activity you do, as though you are doing it for the Lord himself and not merely for others. For we know that we will receive a reward, an inheritance from the Lord, as we serve the Lord Yahweh, the Anointed One!

There are two ways we can do something –
    1. By our own strength power, knowledge and skills
    2. By God’s empowerment (anointing)

“I will show you a better way”
There is our way – and there is God’s Divine Way of doing things

Isaiah 48:17 : Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel: “I am the LORD your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you by the way you should go.”
Romans 6:14: For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
Grace is God giving whereas Law is God demanding. Grace and supply are synonymous.
“That’s how we’ve always done it”

Jesus says, “Do you love me more than these things?
Matthew 11:28-30: "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Jesus said “take My yoke upon you and learn from Me”.
It’s a matter of flowing with God. When God moves left, you follow. When God stops, you stop too.
    “Get up and write”
Sometimes God gives you a desire to read something now, but if you procrastinate and leave it for later, the flow is no longer there.
When it’s time to write, I gotta write.
If somethings comes to my heart from God, I need to stop whatever it is I am doing and write it down.

HE is the Vine (apart from Jesus we can do nothing)
Psalm 37:5: Let the LORD lead you and trust him to help.
Commit your ways to the Lord Commit your steps
Peter walked on water. His steps were successful when he was looking to Jesus.

There are two ways we can do something –
    1. By our own strength power, knowledge and skills
    2. By God’s empowerment (anointing)

? What should we pick up –and what should we lay down – for the Kingdom of God?
Do you love me more than these things?
“These things” could be, for us, our unforgiveness, bitterness, anger, grudges, resentment – because WE think we’re justified, while Jesus tells us to love, forgive, bless and release.
These things can poison our souls and hold us back from our destiny, our purpose. They also destroy our health, our sanity.
We need to be freed from “these things.” NOW.
Stop justifying your rebellion (even if it has been due to denominationalism or traditions of men)
1 Peter 5:6: Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.

Jesus says “You are the Light of the world.”

Can we lay down our egos and traditions of men and agendas and begin to work on something bigger than ourselves?

It’s only through love that we will transform lives

We are to become the difference makers
We can break the historic cycles of not seeing God’s will be done in the church

God didn’t call us to be a pond – He created us to be an ocean

Can you take your life – with all of its up and downs, good days and struggles, and bring them to the Table of the Lord this morning?

Holy Communion is described by many great men of God as a “Means of Grace”

Can you receive this Grace – this Divine Rest for your souls this morning
and once again allow the master to also be The Vine
and surrender to being the branch today?

You’ve read “it is said that it is better to give than to receive. “
Now, that’s true in our relationships with people. But when it comes to our relationship with the Lord, it’s better to RECEIVE from Him than to try to give to Him!
Jesus describes Himself as the “bread of life,” in essence telling us that He wants us to partake of Him and receive from Him all the nourishment, strength, healing, provision, and abundant life we can take!
