Grace and Humility 恩典与谦卑
Micah 6: 8: He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you Except to be just, and to love [and to diligently practice] kindness (compassion), And to walk humbly with your God [setting aside any overblown sense of importance or self-righteousness]?
弥迦书 6:8: 世人哪!耶和华已指示你何为善。他向你所要的是什么呢?只要你行公义,好怜悯,存谦卑的心,与你的神同行。(page 1513)
Eph 2:13: But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ.
以弗所书 2:13: 你们从前远离神的人,如今却在基督耶稣里,靠着他的血,已经得亲近了。(page 1896)
Heb 9:14: How much more the blood of Christ will do! He gave Himself as a perfect gift to God through the Spirit that lives forever. Now your heart can be free from the guilty feeling of doing work that is worth nothing. Now you can work for the living God.
希伯来书 9:14: 何况基督借着永远的灵,将自己无瑕无疵献给神,他的血岂不更能洗净你们的心,除去你们的死行,使你们侍奉那永生神吗?(page 1949)
Romans 3:22: Everyone who believes has God’s approval through faith in Jesus Christ. There is no difference between people.
罗马书 3:22: 就是神的义因信耶稣基督加给一切相信的人,并没有分别。(page 1825)
2 Cor 10:12: Of course, we wouldn't dare to put ourselves in the same class or compare ourselves with those who rate themselves so highly. They compare themselves to one another and make up their own standards to measure themselves by, and then they judge themselves by their own standards.
哥林多后书 10:12: 我们不敢和那些自我推荐的人相提并论;他们拿自己来量自己,拿自己来比自己,实在不大聪明。(page 1880)

Grace
and
Humility
Micah
6:8,9
I
often
get
my
best
inspiration
while
driving
and
taking
a
shower.
If I
am
driving,
I
will
call
my
home
#
and
leave
a
message
to
remind
me
of
the
flash
of
inspiration.
If I
am
in
the
shower,
then
I
just
gotta
hope
I
remember
long
enough
until
I
can
grab
a
towel.
They
say
if a
women
sees
another
lady
in
the
same
outfit
that
she
is
wearing,
she
wants
to
go
home
and
change.
If a
man
sees
another
guy
in
the
same
shirt,
they
probably
think,
“Hey
–
that
guy
must
be
ok.
We
could
probably
be
friends!”
Despite
anything
the
news
media
tries
to
tell
you,
there
are
differences
between
men
and
women
that
go
beyond
just
our
chromosomes.
In
our
church
family,
the
ladies
are
good
about
doing
things
together.
We
men
have
not
done
as
good
a
job.
We
really
need
to
do
more,
even
if
only
a
monthly
Waffle
House
visit
or
something.
We
all
need
extra
help
in
keeping
is
us
close
and
bonding
together
–
especially
in
these
last
days.
Isn’t
that
what
scripture
advises
us
to
do?
What
is a
good
way
to
strengthen
our
bonds?
Commonality.
commonality:
a
sharing
of
features
or
characteristics
in
common;
possession
or
manifestation
of
common
attributes.
a
feature
or
characteristic
held
in
common
Here
is a
great
commonality
we
as
Christians
can
utilize
strengthen
our
bonds:
We
are
all
saved
by
grace
(grace
alone)
through
faith.
None
of
us
can
brag
or
boast.
Grace
and
Humility
can
make
us
closer
and
more
effective
in
ministry
together.
Eph
2:13:
But
now
you
have
been
united
with
Christ
Jesus.
Once
you
were
far
away
from
God,
but
now
you
have
been
brought
near
to
him
through
the
blood
of
Christ.
Grace
and
Humility
can
draw
us
closer,
looking
beyond
the
external
to
recognize
the
internal
work
being
achieve
in
all
of
us
through
God’s
grace.
No,
he
has
told
you
what
he
wants,
and
this
is
all
it
is:
to
be
fair,
just,
merciful,
and
to
walk
humbly
with
your
God.
The
prophet
Micah
(around
700
BC)
addressed
the
wickedness
of
Israel
and
Judah.
Pointing
to
corrupt
leaders,
dishonest
businessmen,
and
priests
whose
hearts
were
not
with
the
people.
Micah
declared
God’s
standards
were
justice,
mercy,
and
walking
with
the
Lord
in
humility.
Humility
has
been
defined
by
one
pastor
as,
“not
thinking
less
of
ourselves
as
much
as
thinking
more
of
God.”
AMP:
He
has
told
you,
O
man,
what
is
good;
And
what
does
the
LORD
require
of
you
Except
to
be
just,
and
to
love
[and
to
diligently
practice]
kindness
(compassion),
And
to
walk
humbly
with
your
God
[setting
aside
any
overblown
sense
of
importance
or
self-righteousness]?
Micah
asked
the
question
in
the
previous
verses
about
how
we
should
properly
come
before
the
Lord’s
Presence.
Was
it
with
sacrifices
and
burnt
offerings?
He
responds
with
this
well-known
verse:
The
LORD
has
told
you…what
is
good;
he
has
told
you
what
•he
wants
[what
the
LORD
requires]
from
you:
to
do
what
is
•right
to
other
people
[just],
love
•being
kind
to
others
[mercy;
lovingkindness],
and
•live
humbly,
obeying
[walk
humbly
with]
your
God.
“Remember
the
Mission”
Last
week
we
read
Isaiah
58:8,9
“Then
your
light
will
break
forth
like
the
dawn,
and
your
healing
will
quickly
appear;
then
your
righteousness
will
go
before
you,
and
the
glory
of
the
LORD
will
be
your
rear
guard.
Then
you
will
call,
and
the
LORD
will
answer;
you
will
cry
for
help,
and
he
will
say:
‘Here
am
I.’”
What
GOD
is
saying
to
us
in
this
scripture
is
that
if
we
pursue
God’s
heart
–
His
desires
-
through
our
personal
and
corporate
service
(as
the
church)
to
Him
(by
loving
and
serving
others)
He
will
open
up
the
skies
for
us.
Remember
the
Mission
Psalm
138:8:
The
LORD
will
fulfill
his
purpose
for
me;
your
steadfast
love,
O
LORD,
endures
forever.
Do
not
forsake
the
work
of
your
hands.
? Is
there
any
of
us
that
this
doesn’t
include?
WE
are
the
work
of
His
hands.
ALL
of
us.
Together,
we
are
The
Church
-
what
Acts
20:28
describes
as,
“the
church
of
God
which
He
hath
purchased
with
His
own
blood.”
When
we
Remember
the
Mission
we
also
forget
the
past.
We
look
forward
– we
press
on.
We
afford
the
whole
body
of
Christ
the
same
Grace
we
personally
have
been
shown
in
order
to
get
back
up
and
press
on.
We
go
beyond
what
Heb
9:14
describes
as
“dead
works”
How
much
more
the
blood
of
Christ
will
do!
He
gave
Himself
as a
perfect
gift
to
God
through
the
Spirit
that
lives
forever.
Now
your
heart
can
be
free
from
the
guilty
feeling
of
doing
work
that
is
worth
nothing.
Now
you
can
work
for
the
living
God.
We
are
all
cleansed
by
that
same
precious
blood
That
Blood
that
gives
us
another
chance
to
embrace
our
lives
with
grace
and
humility.
A
commonality
we
share
with
the
whole
Body
of
Christ
–
His
Church.
Romans
3:22:
Everyone
who
believes
has
God’s
approval
through
faith
in
Jesus
Christ.
There
is
no
difference
between
people.
We
must
live
and
walk
in
this
perspective
Perspective
creates
Meaning.
Meaning
creates
emotion.
“The
quality
of
our
life
is
the
quality
of
our
emotion.”
We
sometimes
have
to
reevaluate
and
recalibrate
We
start
our
new
journey
of
faith
from
the
perspective
of
being
redeemed.
We
have
to
be
diligent
to
walk
in
the
grace
and
humility
1
Cor
8:1:
Knowledge
puffs
up,
(arrogance,
pride)
but
love
builds
up.
The
man
who
thinks
he
knows
something
does
not
yet
know
as
he
ought
to
know.
Grace
and
Humility
The
redeemed
of
God
have
a
commonality
that
should
cause
us
to
walk
in
grace
and
humility
with
all
of
the
church.
The
Family
of
God.
2
Cor
10:12:
Of
course,
we
wouldn't
dare
to
put
ourselves
in
the
same
class
or
compare
ourselves
with
those
who
rate
themselves
so
highly.
They
compare
themselves
to
one
another
and
make
up
their
own
standards
to
measure
themselves
by,
and
then
they
judge
themselves
by
their
own
standards.
Eph
2:10:
“It
is
God
who
has
worked
in
us
to
make
us
what
we
are.
He
has
given
us a
new
life
because
we
are
united
with
Christ
Jesus.
He
saved
us
so
that
now
we
can
do
good
things
in
our
lives.
Those
are
good
things
that
he
has
already
prepared
for
us
to
do.”
Our
confidence
comes
as a
result
of
the
Substitutionary
Death
of
Jesus
God
sent
His
Son
to
the
world
to
be a
man
that
He
might
bear
the
penalty
of
sin
for
sinful
men.
This
is
called
substitution.
Such
substitutionary
death
on
the
part
of
the
Lord
Jesus
is
the
gospel.
The
gospel
of
God
does
not
seek
to
persuade
people
to
“do
good”
in
order
to
balance
the
bad
and
thus
to
enable
men
to
redeem
themselves.
No,
God
knows
that
men
have
no
merit
whatever,
for
they
cannot
do
good.
Hence
He
sends
His
Son
to
shed
His
own
blood
in
atoning
for
men’s
sins.
All
who
trust
in
the
work
of
His
shed
blood
shall
be
freely
forgiven
and
justified.
The
Great
Exchange
Eph
1:7:
In
him
we
have
redemption
through
his
blood,
the
forgiveness
of
sins,
in
accordance
with
the
riches
of
God’s
grace
We
all
need
a
savior.
We
are
all
in
need
of
God’s
Grace.
There
is
no
other
way
“Nothing
but
The
Blood.”
We
acknowledge
this
every
time
we
come
together
to
break
the
bread
and
drink
the
cup
of
Holy
Communion.
1
Cor
10:17:
Because
there
is
one
bread,
we
who
are
many
are
one
body,
for
we
all
partake
of
the
one
bread.
1
Cor
11:29
tell
us
we
must
honor
the
body
of
Christ
when
we
come
together
for
the
Lord’s
Supper.
( )
So
here
we
are.
Together
to
break
the
bread
together.
The
Body
of
Christ
Joined
together
in
Grace
and
Humility.
