     Magnificent Obsession 崇高的迷恋

Joshua 14:10,11: “Now then, just as the LORD promised, he has kept me alive for forty-five years since the time he said this to Moses, while Israel moved about in the wilderness. So here I am today, eighty-five years old! I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out; I’m just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then.
(page 373)

Eph 3:7 - I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace given me through the working of his power.
    以弗所书 3:7: 上帝运用大能赐给我恩典,叫我成为这福音的使者。(page 1896)

James 1:25: But when you look into God’s perfect law that sets people free, pay attention to it. If you do what it says, you will have God’s blessing. Never just listen to his teaching and forget what you heard.
    雅各书 1:25: 但详细查考那使人得自由的全备律法并且持之以恒的人,不是听了就忘,而是身体力行,这样的人必在他所行的事上蒙福。(page 1960)
1 Chron 4:9,10 –Jabez called out to the God of Israel, “If only you would bless me, extend my border, let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm, so that I will not experience pain.” And God granted his request.
    历代志上 4:10: 雅比斯向以色列的上帝祷告说:“愿你赐福给我,扩大我的疆土,与我同在,使我远离患难和痛苦。”
    上帝答应了他的祈求。(page 660)

      SEEK
    Magnificent Obsession – Part One
    Joshua 14:10,11
Today I want to talk about having a Magnificient Obsession.
A Book. A Movie. A chapter in a Napoleon Hill book.
“Once you find the way, you'll be bound. It will obsess you.
but believe me, it will be a magnificent obsession.”
“A Magnificent Obsession will conquer despite the obstacles that stand in its way!”
“No matter who you are you can have a Magnificent Obsession.
Every living person can help others by sharing a part of himself.
You don’t have to be rich or powerful to develop a Magnificent Obsession.
Regardless of who you are, or what you have been,
you can create inside yourself a burning desire to be helpful to others.”

Even if your fire is low, there is a still (always) a pilot light there that just needs to be turned back up. Passion drives our Priorities.
Eph 3:7 - I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace given me through the working of his power.

There is still a Huge, BOLD, GOD-Sized Dream waiting to seize the driver’s seat of your time, your energy and your destiny.
“Develop an obsession — a Magnificent Obsession — to help others.
Share yourself without expecting a reward, payment, or commendation.”

Do you know of any mighty man or woman of God who didn’t at some point have a great awakening – an awakening so powerful that their words and actions became fully aligned with doing something above and beyond what the people around them thought was possible – and they no longer listened to the lack, loss and limitation all around them? – they somehow developed a Magnificent Obsession
George Whitefield: O my brethren, my heart is enlarge towards you. I trust I feel something of that hidden, but powerful presence of Christ, whilst I am preaching to you.

The purpose for my message today is to stir our hearts to greater action as we near the mid-point of this year. There comes a time when the ground has (now) been prepared and we must then plant, cultivate and nurture that precious seed. When we work in the garden, we inevitably must get down there with the spade and the watering can and get our hands dirty.
The end-time harvest must now become our Magnificent Obsession.

Not based on feelings or our own skills or talents, but seeking Him by faith and trusting that He is the Vine and we are the branches.
? …but, is that what you want to do? Is that your burning desire?
Question: What is YOUR “Magnificent Obsession? Are you still searching for it?
Jesus: “Keep on seeking, and you will find.”
Come Help Change the World – Bill Bright - an American evangelist. In 1951 at the University of California, Los Angeles, he founded Campus Crusade for Christ as a ministry for university students.
In 1952 he wrote The Four Spiritual Laws. In 1979 he produced the film Jesus.

Bill Bright: “Set goals so big that unless God helps you, you will be a miserable failure.”
Man cannot really help the world. God alone does that.
…and yet, we know we have our part to play in this
James warned us not to be just hearers – but doers as well.
James 1:25: But when you look into God’s perfect law that sets people free, pay attention to it. If you do what it says, you will have God’s blessing. Never just listen to his teaching and forget what you heard.
George Whitefield: "Press forward. Do not stop, do not linger in your journey, but strive for the mark set before you."
The people in the BIBLE who do exploits for the Kingdom of GOD speak with boldness and act with boldness
They do not draw back. They are not timid in their faith

Maybe it’s time for us to Ask God for a bigger dream.Jim Koger: “Lord, give me a burden for souls”
Jesus: “And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.”
“What a different story men would have to tell if only they would adopt a DEFINITE PURPOSE, and stand by that purpose until it had time to become an all-consuming obsession!”
    a Magnificent Obsession
Question: What is YOUR “Magnificent Obsession? Are you still searching for it?
Jesus: “Keep on seeking, and you will find.”
? Have you ever thought that you can develop a magnificent obsession by becoming a part of a great cause and by sharing a part of what you have?your resources - your talents - your energy – maybe your own under-developed or yet un-tapped leadership potential?
Who we are today is just a foreshadow of who we can become
Our Magnificent Obsession(s) will all be unique – and yet, together aligned toward a common goal.
Despite Peter’s many failings during his time with Jesus, Jesus never let him go.
Jesus never stopped seeing who Peter could become.
Isn’t that how we see our children (and their children?)
If you ever raised a child, how long did you give them to learn to walk before you threw in the towel and just gave up?
Perseverance and persistence are clearly attributes of those who achieve great accomplishments in life.
Without a magnificent obsession, people quickly give up.
A stranger chanced upon several workers in a small town in Italy.
Curious and interested, he began to inquire from the workers as to what they were doing. “I’m laying bricks,” said the first worker.
After a few minutes of idle chat, he asked another, “What are you doing? Laying bricks, eh?” “Laying bricks? No, sir. I am building a cathedral”
The labor of our hands, hearts and minds should more than just a series of mundane tasks. It should be a Divine Assignment from God.
Consider the possibility that your driving force – your magnificent obsession, may be multi-faceted, and that your labor – your success – would also include the building of God’s House – the expansion of the Kingdom of God.
Are we ready to “seek first the Kingdom of God?”
Is there a Magnificent Obsession in your heart today? Out of it flows your life
We know there are many problems in our world today. Maybe like me, you sometimes just want to look away (like not watching the news)
…and although we cannot deny the potentially disheartening, overwhelming problems we face, I believe we should primarily look to the solution instead.
Is there a Magnificent Obsession in your heart today for a solution to the world’s problems?
“Keep on seeking, and you will find.” (you will find your Magnificient Obession)
When we are seeking God, we do it through the completed work of the cross.
Jesus paid the price for us to come directly to God.
The substitutionary death of Jesus gives us access to the Throne of Grace.
seeking God. Seeking God with our whole hearts.
Not based on feelings or our own worthiness, but seeking Him by faith.
Heb 11:6 - Whoever goes to God must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
    • Could the revelation of your Magnificent Obsession just one more prayer away?
    One single new contact?
One new day when you rise out of your own challenges – and are ready to help someone else do the same?
    • YOU are NOW most qualified to help the person or people that you used to be.
? Do we just keep waiting – or do we say “this is it. THIS is the day…”

What if your new purpose in life is to show other people that age is no longer a limitation as to the difference we can make in this world today.
Caleb declared: “Now look at me: GOD has kept me alive, as he promised. It is now forty-five years since GOD spoke this word to Moses, years in which Israel wandered in the wilderness. And here I am today, eighty-five years old! I’m as strong as I was the day Moses sent me out. I’m as strong as ever in battle, whether coming or going. So give me this hill country that GOD promised me. You yourself heard the report, that the Anakim were there with their great fortress cities.
If GOD goes with me, I will drive them out, just as GOD said.” (Joshua 14:10,11)
Nehemiah sought to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem – and he directed his seeking to humbly going to God for direction and empowerment.
    It became his Magnificent Obsession.
    …but that’s for next week.
    Prayer of Jabez
