Genesis 13:14-7 - The LORD said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, “Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west. All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever. I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted. Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you.”

Isaiah 55:6-7: Seek the LORD while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near. Let the people turn from their wicked deeds. Let them banish from their minds the very thought of doing wrong! Let them turn to the LORD that he may have mercy on them.

Give Your Faith a Picture 2024
Genesis 13:14-18
Watching old college football games
Sometimes the receiver gets ahead of the ball and then drops it.

If you aren’t handling that which is right in front of you – if you’re halfway thinking about the next thing you gotta do – it causes stress and anxiety.

Sometimes life gets so busy we can only see what is right in front of us.

In a world full of change and constant outside input – how can we stay focused?
How can we keep our attention on the correct things?

We believe for God to work in our lives.
Many of us are praying and believing for positive new changes to occur.

We know it’s a cooperative effort.
God never told us to sit on the couch and He will fix everything.

“I’m just trusting the Lord…”
You’re trusting in Him - but what are you trusting Him for?

“You’ve Got to Give Your Faith a Picture.”
“Replace the old, worn-out limitations with a new, empowering vision”

“Nature abhors a vacuum”

Jesus taught that if someone were set free from an evil spirit and did not fill the empty place with the Holy Spirit, then eventually the evil spirit would return and bring 6 more with him.

It is not enough to just let go and walk away from the past we want to abandon.
We need to know where we’re moving to.

“I see the objective and the obstacle must give way.”
“Give Way” (London Tube Station example)

You’ve got to discover (establish) your objective, and then set your sights on arriving there. (KEY)

The past is over – and the future can change according to the image you impress in your heart.
Give your faith a picture
Some people will live and die and never serve God from their true talents and abilities…
…but that doesn’t have to be you or me. We make that decision ourselves!

? is a limited vision of your life holding you back?

(limiting beliefs) “I never finish what I start”

If you can establish a God-given vision for your life, you will be empowered to live for Him. “I set my face like a stone”

Give your faith a new picture to move toward.

“The image in my heart propels me forward by faith”

(if you do this) You will find new power to overcome temptation.
You will become driven by a higher purpose.
You see your objective… and your obstacles must give way!

Your friends will no longer so easily drag you down.
Your spiritual laziness will be replaced by Holy Fire… Godly Zeal.
You apathy will be replaced by Passion to serve God.

Give your faith a picture. Give it a feeling.

What kind of feeling? (cruise ship, first day of vacation)
What kind of feeling did you have when you first got saved?

“Restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation.”
Psalm 51:12 - Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you.

When we “re-recognize” that we are saved – born again – a Child of God.
Our sins are forgiven. No condemnation…

…It’s like when Ebeneezer Scrooge realized it was Christmas morning – he could still make a change and make a new start.

It’s not yet too late for any of us.
Take the limits off of what God can do through you.

“For all the land which thou seest…”

What do you see today? You cannot inherit what you cannot see
You must see it before you can be it…

See it in your heart. Give your faith a picture. A path to follow.

Seedtime and Harvest. Your thoughts are the seed of your future self.

Your Heart is a garden. What is your seed?
A Vision combined with Feeling is your most powerful seed.

The Good News is – all that you can SEE can be yours by faith

• SEE the VICTORY in your life
• SEE your health restored SEE your loved ones living for Jesus
• SEE yourself free from your addictions
SEE peace and prosperity restored in your life

Take yourself out of that old picture of defeat

> If you DON’T do this, then you are reinforcing a predictable future from your all-too-familiar past.

Place yourself firmly on the Rock of Ages

Your inheritance includes overcoming power. You are more than a conqueror

God’s strength can replace your weaknesses
See His hand move to change that impossible situation in your life See it!

“All the land that thou seest… to thee will I give it… and to thy seed forever.”

Give your faith a picture.
You’ve been given control over your mind (if you choose to take advantage of it.)

You have the choice to control what you pay attention to.

Repentance. Change your thinking.

Right Thinking = Right Results.

A righteous man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children

If you just don’t want God’s blessings for yourself – do it for your children… or your children’s children!

“Arise, walk through the land…”

You may have to go out and find the vision God has for you
Abram became Abraham - Because he CHOSE to believe God

“Let them banish from their minds the very thought of doing wrong!”

Honestly – do you still see yourself behaving in the same old patterns of failure?

“Call to Me, and I will answer you…”

God will give you greater revelation of His higher purpose for your life…
As you are faithful in the smaller things.

Show yourself faithful. Show yourself committed.
Little steps of faith every day are better than big plans never acted upon.

? Can God trust you with His plans?

Matt 25:21 “Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities.”

Throw your heart over the bar

Say “Yes” to the Vision God puts in your heart.

Take that first step of faith and God will continue to light the path for you… and reveal His higher purposes and plans

The bigger fish are out on the deeper water

Fencer sitters have no place in God’s Kingdom business.
The lukewarm doubters never reach the promised land God has for them

God’s plan is often revealed through service
Through life showing us the need we were called to fill

Only that ministry will bring us our true contentment.

Is there something missing in our worship? Is there a hole that needs filling?

Maybe God is showing that to you so that you can be the one to fix it!

Phillips Brooks, American clergyman (Christmas hymn, "O Little Town of Bethlehem"):
“You never become truly spiritual by sitting down and wishing to become so.
You must undertake something so great that you cannot accomplish it unaided.”

1 Cor 12:31: …eagerly desire the greater gifts. And now I will show you the most excellent way.”

Jesus said “Take up your cross”
What is your cross? What is your divine destiny?

Your cross will be carried with JOY! It is an easy load.

Jesus said: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

Love God so much that you become willing to seek out and do His will.

Follow His plan for your life.

Understand this: Your life counts in the kingdom of God.

You were never an accident… and it is not an accident that you are here this morning with the rest of us.

We all need an objective. We need a goal. A Godly vision to propel us forward.

… and sometimes that vision is revealed by simple obedient service to God where we are - even at this moment.

God will not trust us with bigger things until He sees us be faithful with the little things… because in truth, there are no little things in His Kingdom.

But we have to be willing to take that first step in faith.

The past is over –
- and the future can change according to the image you impress in your heart.
