Four
Words
1
Sam
2:2:
“There
is
none
holy
like
the
LORD:
for
there
is
none
besides
you;
there
is
no
rock
like
our
God.”
Words
have
power.
Words
shape
our
society,
our
world,
and
our
history
(for
better
and
for
worse)
I
want
to
heal
the
world.
I
want
to
restore
hope.
Alleviate
suffering.
Bring
restoration
to
people’s
lives.
Guess
what?
I
have
no
power
to
do
that
of
myself.
But
Jesus
can.
Apart
from
Him
we
can
do
nothing.
…and
only
an
uncompromised
message
can
deliver
that
kind
of
change
to
this
world.
I
have
no
stories
or
poems
for
you
today
–
just
a
sobering
wake-up
call
for
the
Children
of
God,
coming
directly
and
purely
from
the
Word
of
God.
Jude
1:3
TPT:
Dearly
loved
friend,
I
was
fully
intending
to
write
to
you
about
our
amazing
salvation
we
all
participate
in,
but
felt
the
need
instead
to
challenge
you
to
vigorously
defend
and
contend
for
the
beliefs
that
we
cherish.
For
God,
through
the
apostles,
has
once
for
all
entrusted
these
truths
to
his
holy
believers.
Contending
for
the
faith
simply
means
that
we
take
our
commitment
to
Christ
and
His
Church
seriously
enough
to
take
firm
strenuous
action
whenever
such
action
is
needed
in
doctrinal
matters.
It
is
actually
the
same
attitude
that
a
good
doctor
would
have
in
looking
after
his
patients.
The
Message
we
share
in
the
Gospel
Message.
It
is
Good
News.
Good
Things.
…and
it
is
an
uncompromised
message.
Only
an
uncompromised
message
can
deliver
true
change
to
this
world.
Not
diluted
by
the
world.
Not
filtered
to
please
the
mainstream.
Today
I
offer
you
a
message
built
upon
four
words:
“contend
for
the
faith”
contend:
to
say
that
something
is
true
or
is a
fact
2
Thess
2:9-12
(Paul
warns
us):
“
…Satan…
uses
…every
form
of
evil
deception
in
order
to
deceive
those
who
are
perishing
because
they
rejected
the
love
of
the
truth
that
would
lead
them
to
being
saved.
Because
of
this,
God
sends
them
a
powerful
delusion
that
leads
them
to
believe
what
is
false.
So
then
all
who
found
their
pleasure
in
unrighteousness
and
did
not
believe
the
truth
will
be
judged.
“The
further
a
society
drifts
from
the
truth,
the
more
it
will
hate
those
who
speak
it.”
2
Thess
2:15:
So
then,
dear
family,
stand
firm
with
a
masterful
grip
of
the
teachings
we
gave
you,
either
by
word
of
mouth
or
by
our
letter.
why
must
we
contend
for
the
faith?
Jude
provides
a
simple
answer:
because
there
are
false
teachers.
Christians
cannot
allow
false
teachers
to
do
what
they
do.
Jesus,
along
with
the
other
New
Testament
authors,
warned
of
the
coming
of
false
teachers
…and
are
currently
present
in
our
churches
now.
In
this
letter
Jude
is
sounding
the
alarm:
“Church,
be
aware!”
Prov
14:34:
Righteousness
[moral
and
spiritual
integrity
and
virtuous
character]
exalts
a
nation,
But
sin
is a
disgrace
to
any
people.
1
Sam
2:9:
He
guards
the
steps
of
his
faithful
ones,
but
the
wicked
perish
in
darkness,
for
a
person
does
not
prevail
by
his
own
strength.
?
will
you
follow
the
apostles
or
the
apo-state?
apostate:
a
person
who
renounces
a
religious
or
political
belief
or
principle.
Apostasy
is
the
formal
disaffiliation
from,
abandonment
of,
or
renunciation
of a
religion
by a
person.
It
can
also
be
defined
within
the
broader
context
of
embracing
an
opinion
that
is
contrary
to
one's
previous
religious
beliefs.
The
Apostate
church
does
not
seek
God’s
will
– it
tells
a
Holy
God
to
take
the
people
as
they
are,
with
no
desire
in
them
to
conform
to
God’s
Word
and
God’s
Will.
?
How
did
it
get
to
this?
It
didn’t
happen
overnight
Isaiah
5:20:
What
sorrow
(woe)
for
those
who
say
that
evil
is
good
and
good
is
evil,
that
dark
is
light
and
light
is
dark,
that
bitter
is
sweet
and
sweet
is
bitter.
It
starts
with
words
–
that
plant
a
seed
in
the
hearts
of
those
who
do
not
know
any
better
Gal
5:9:
This
false
teaching
is
like
a
little
yeast
that
spreads
through
the
whole
batch
of
dough!
TPT:
Don’t
you
know
that
when
you
allow
even
a
little
lie
into
your
heart,
it
can
permeate
your
entire
belief
system?
“Bring
every
thought
captive
to
obedience
to
Christ”
2
Corinthians
10:
We
can
demolish
every
deceptive
fantasy
that
opposes
God
and
break
through
every
arrogant
attitude
that
is
raised
up
in
defiance
of
the
true
knowledge
of
God.
It
starts
with
us
(our
hearts)
first
Matt
5:6:
“Blessed
are
those
who
hunger
and
thirst
for
righteousness,
for
they
shall
be
satisfied.
(filled)”
Hosea
10:12:
Sow
for
yourselves
righteousness;
reap
steadfast
love;
break
up
your
fallow
ground,
for
it
is
the
time
to
seek
the
LORD,
that
he
may
come
and
rain
righteousness
upon
you.
“Sow
for
yourselves
righteousness”
is a
quote
from
the
Bible,
Hosea
10:12,
which
continues,
“reap
steadfast
love;
break
up
your
fallow
ground,
for
it
is
the
time
to
seek
the
Lord,
that
he
may
come
and
rain
righteousness
upon
you”.
The
Bible
often
uses
agricultural
terms
to
describe
spiritual
growth.
In
this
context,
planting
right
actions
can
lead
to a
harvest
of
God's
mercy.
“Sow
for
yourselves
righteousness”
indicates
and
requires
action
on
our
part.
‘Plant
the
good
seeds
of
righteousness,
and
you
will
harvest
a
crop
of
love.’
Transformation
requires
Action.
Phil
2:12:
“Work
out
your
own
salvation”
“Work
hard
to
show
the
results
of
your
salvation,
obeying
God
with
deep
reverence
and
fear.”
Ephesians
6:12:
For
we
are
not
fighting
against
flesh-and-blood
enemies,
but
against
evil
rulers
and
authorities
of
the
unseen
world,
against
mighty
powers
in
this
dark
world,
and
against
evil
spirits
in
the
heavenly
places.
To
“contend
for
the
faith”
begins
with
our
own
hearts
first.
James
4:7:
So
humble
yourselves
before
God.
Resist
the
devil,
and
he
will
flee
from
you.
Job
22:21
Submit
to
God,
and
you
will
have
peace;
then
things
will
go
well
for
you.
These
verses
indicate
putting
an
end
to
our
own
rebellion
and
submitting
ourselves
to
God.
Repentance.
ask
for
the
Grace
to
forgive
others
so
you
can,
in
turn
receive
that
grace
for
yourself
I
know
it
is a
challenge
–
and
I
know
we
want
change
NOW
…but
we
are
to
keep
doing
the
right
things,
and
keep
doing
them
long
enough
The
world
didn’t
fall
apart
in
one
day,
and
it
will
not
all
be
restored
in
an
afternoon
Galatians
6:9:
And
let
us
not
grow
weary
while
doing
good,
for
in
due
season
we
shall
reap
if
we
do
not
lose
heart.
“Come
Out
from
among
them”
“calls
us
Out
of
darkness”
Gal
5:18:
“ …
when
you
yield
to
the
life
of
the
Spirit,
you
will
no
longer
be
living
under
the
law,
but
soaring
above
it!”
2
Thess
2:16,17:
Now
may
the
Lord
Jesus
Christ
and
our
Father
God,
who
loved
us
and
in
his
wonderful
grace
gave
us
eternal
comfort
and
a
beautiful
hope
that
cannot
fail,
encourage
your
hearts
and
inspire
you
with
strength
to
always
do
and
speak
what
is
good
and
beautiful
in
his
eyes.
