     DELIGHT
    Psalm 37:3-6
The human body is an amazing creation.
Your heart beats over 100,000 x a day without you ever having to think about it.
It pumps over 6,000 qts of blood a day through a network of blood vessels that if you were to put them end-to-end, could circle the earth
Healthy eyes can make over 10 million color distinctions…
…and all of this is processed by a body that is about 98% water

7 trillion cells – each cell filled with programming and data.

Only 5-10% of what we do is from a conscious level.

We do a lot to program those cells by what we put into our minds (“be transformed”)

I have been doing a lot to reprogram my ways of thinking and acting. It comes through awareness, what I feed my brain, and repetition.

As I seek to upgrade my health, one of the biggest challenges for me is getting beyond the “programming” that says every meal should end with something sweet.
That sugar is bad stuff, but it sure has been a comfortable habit.

Sometimes we want to do one thing, but we are still conditioned (programmed) to do something very different. We keep repeating the same old routine, despite our best efforts.

Psalm 40:8: I delight to do Your will, O my God; Your law is within my heart.

“Guard your heart with all diligence, for out of it flow the issues of life.”

“I delight to do your will, my God, and your instruction is deep within me.”

Those who think like the world do not think like the Lord

Psalm 37:4 TPT: Make God the utmost delight and pleasure of your life, and he will provide for you what you desire the most.
The word delight means “to gain great pleasure, satisfaction, and happiness.”
Additionally, another meaning of the Hebrew word for delight is “to be soft, tender.”
I think lovers of God are those who are soft and tender toward him, teachable, pliable in his hands.
AMP “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.”

“those intent on knowing the Eternal God will have everything they need.”

Psalm 112:1: Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in his commands.
“ you must be spiritual to see spiritual things.”

In order to find “great delight” in God’s commands, we have to be transformed.

There are old habits of eating, patterns of living, that I have gradually overcome through installing new rituals, routines and disciplines.

Although I am definitely still a work in process, (sometimes very slow process) there are things I delight to do now that I felt I could not do previously.

(in the prophetic book of) Ezekiel 36:26,27: I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.

Notice that Ezekiel prophesies that God's Spirit will cause people to walk in His statutes and to keep His judgments.

God's Spirit provides both motivation and strength to do what is good and right.

Phil 2:13: For it is God who is at work within you, giving you the will and the power to achieve his purpose.
“He helps you want to do what pleases him, and he gives you the power to do it.”

We do God's work—believing, obeying, overcoming, growing, producing fruit — not by our power and abilities but by His Spirit

“apart from Me you can do nothing” “Seek and you will find”

Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
A growing relationship with the Lord is not drudgery, though it can be hard work.
But the effort is a labor of love, because God’s people are designed to derive joy and fulfillment from being in God’s presence.
The greatest pleasure we can experience in life is walking hand in hand with a Father who adores us.
Psalm 37:23 - The steps of a man are established by the LORD when he delights in his way
On a practical level, what does delighting our soul, delighting ourselves in the Lord, look like?
    1. Delight in the Word – God wants to speak with us. He longs to share his heart and passions with us. They are all wrapped up inside the Holy Scriptures.
Jer 15:16: Your words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart
It would be impossible to overemphasize the importance of delighting in every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.
? Are you finding time to be in His word and delighting in what He says to you?
    2. Delight in His Ways – Delight in the way of God, the way he works in your life, the way he makes you more like Christ. The ways of God include waiting on him. Waiting—yes, wait on the Lord!
We move our heart into God’s heart and learn His ways.
We love to see God work. But there must be a people on earth who have tapped into his ways. To know the ways of God is to know his heart. Delight in his ways, no matter how puzzling they may appear to you at any given moment.
Psalm 119:16: Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight.

    3. Delight in Wonder – Think of a time when you delighted in something—maybe a sunset. While you delighted in the sunset, were you desiring food? Or new shoes? Or fame?

No. As you delighted in the sunset, what you desired was the sunset. You wanted to keep enjoying the beauty of the sunset. Later on you might have other desires, but at the moment that you delight in the sunset, what you desire is the enjoyment of the sunset.

In the same way, when we delight in the Lord, what we desire is the Lord—to keep beholding his glory, worshiping his majesty, seeing his beauty.

So when we delight in the Lord, the desires that we have in our hearts are desires for the Lord. So what Psalm 37:4 means is that if we delight in the Lord, he will satisfy our desires for him by giving us more joy in him.

    4. Delight in Worship

Psalm 36:7-9: O God, how extravagant is your cherishing love! All mankind can find a hiding place under the shadow of your wings. All may drink of the anointing from the abundance of your house. All may drink their fill from the delightful springs of Eden. To know you is to experience a flowing fountain, drinking in your life, springing up to satisfy.

Nothing brings more bliss to our souls than to worship God freely, with nothing holding us back! What beautiful freedom we experience as we delight in worshipping God!

Jesus said that if we believe in Him, that out of our innermost being would flow rivers of living water (John 7:38).

    Jesus says “Come and Drink.”
A drink becomes a river. Out of our innermost being, from deep within us, is birthed a river. Multiple rivers are flowing through us, rivers of grace, rivers of life, rivers of truth, and rivers of salvation.
This is the year for you to delight yourself in the Lord!

What we delight in, we will pursue with passion.

Wwe know what we should do – and yet, sometimes there is still a struggle.

Our logic makes us think – our emotions make us act.

For us as believers, the Great Reset is to reset our hearts, our minds, our wills to God’s desires and will. To recognize how late the hour really is.

…to seek His Kingdom and ensure that our values and pursuits line up with the plans of The Father.

    • Life is Sacred
    • People are priceless
    • Time is Precious

Now is the time. We are the people.

1 Cor 13:6,7: Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
