Good Things 4
Psalm 34:4-10
“those intent on knowing the Eternal God will have everything they need.”

Monday morning prayers for the needs of… (church, family, etc)

Psalm 34:10: those who SEEK the LORD will lack no good thing.

“EARLY do I seek you…”

“Seek and you will find.”
…but what are you really seeking?
Are you “seeking” another day just like yesterday, or…

“The familiar past will sooner or later be predictable future.”

Our current situation may feel frustrating, but are we using that to burn, or to learn and to turn?
Stop being frustrated and get motivated

“Good Things 4” is about looking at your present situation (realistically) and then declaring, “This is NOT how the story ends!”

Paradigm Shift

Solomon: Guard your heart (your soul) because out of it will flow your life
(be careful what you upload to your soul)

It’s Time to be TRANSFORMED by the Renewing of our Minds.

“Let the Lord be Magnified…”

Luke 12:31,32: As you passionately seek his kingdom, above all else, he will supply your needs. So don't ever be afraid, dearest friends! Your loving Father joyously gives you his kingdom with all its promises!

“Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”
“those intent on knowing the Eternal God will have everything they need.”
A lot is said lately about A.I. – Artificial Intelligence
“If you don’t embrace it and utilize it, you will be left behind!”
We have an advantage over Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) – we have access to Divine Intelligence (D.I.)
The Mind of Christ
“Awake! Thou that sleepest…”
Psalm 103:5: “ … who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”

“Do you believe this?”
If you desire to rise up from where you are – from whatever your state of struggle is – what could be more empowering than the belief that God still has something better for you?
Remember, comfort can be the hope that there is still something better ahead for us.
Do you look at things as they are, or through the eyes of faith, see what can be by the hand of God.
“those intent on knowing the Eternal God will have everything they need.”

John Wesley would often ask his circuit-riding clergy - “How is it with your soul?”
3 John 2: Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

So there is an outward correlation between the state of our soul and the state of our well-being.

Psalm 139:14: I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful, and my soul knows that very well.
“I carry this knowledge deep within my soul.” “I know it with all my heart.”

He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; He who keeps understanding will find good.
(good things)

? Does your soul expect “good things” from God?

Gratitude

The Power of a Grateful Heart (3 things daily)

Gratitude for what IS (and what remains) will propel you to invest in what you now have. To see the seeds of change that are still in your hands.

Psalm 50:23: Set out a sacrifice I can accept: your thankfulness. Do this, and you will honor Me. Those who straighten up their lives will know the saving grace of God.

we enter into His gates with…. _____________

Some people are young all their days. Other people are old at 25.

Psalm 103:5: “ … who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”

In order to have faith for these good things, you have to be present in this moment.
This day.
You have to determine that this is the only day you have.
It’s a choice to live from this moment forward.

You can live from your past, shaping today and even your future based on past experiences, or decide that being full present is the wisest option.
“The familiar past will sooner or later be predictable future.”

Embrace Today with Thanksgiving.

Let your mind be renewed to expect Good Things.
GOD is bringing Good Things… …and it may also be NEW Things

Don’t be limited by expectations that force everything into a mental mold – or an expectation based on the past

Martin Luther wasn’t trying to start a NEW movement when he posted the 95 thesis
– but that wasn’t GOD’s plan or intention

John Wesley wasn’t trying to start a new denomination when he started the Holiness movement in England
– but that wasn’t GOD’s plan or intention

At that time, they were both focused on reforming that which already existed
That which already was (are you listening?)

? How much of our future (our jobs, our families, our church growth) are we basing on our familiar past experiences?

The author and finisher of our faith is ready to write a brand new chapter

(so we need to stop reading the past chapter. consider it a closed book)

Isn’t that called Grace for a New day?

PLOT TWIST

“Uh-oh! Wait a minute…
…you mean – life doesn’t have to continue as ‘business as usual?’”

It doesn’t have to continue as “going through the motions?”

“those intent on knowing the Eternal God will have everything they need.”

It requires a repentance from bad theology and wrong thinking

It is a paradigm shift
It is being trans-formed by the renewing of our minds

Psalm 84:11: “ …no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.”

“SEE What GOD Can DO.”

He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; He who keeps understanding will find good.

“Whoever gains a wise heart loves his own soul…”

“Surely goodness (good things) and mercy…”

Do you have a posture of faith and expectation for good things in your life?
Do you believe?
David said, “I would have lost heart, (been without hope) unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living.” (Psalm 27:13)

He told this to his soul
“The mind controlled by the Spirit is Life and Peace”

Decreeing is Seeding

Peace. Shalom. Wholeness. Nothing missing.

“SEE What GOD Can DO.”

God wants you to trust that He will take care of you!
Trust that the Lord is able and willing to meet all of your needs.

? How are you applying your faith? (are you looking forward or backwards?)

“If you want to change the outcome, you have to change the investment”

Do you have a posture of faith and expectation?
Do you believe?
Can you open your heart to receive (by God’s grace and mercy) the Good Things His Word tells you are to be yours?
? What would Good Things look like to you? ( )
“I will live and not die…”

Do you believe?

Psalm 23:3 “He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul.”

Whoever goes to God must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
“For the Lord is Good – and His mercy endures forever.”

Transformed Q4 2023
Romans 12:1-3

Sometimes when you least suspect it, life throws a surprise at you…

Were you expecting a bad surprise?

How many times do we expect the worst – or that things can’t stay good for very long?

Psalm 103:5 - who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Although this is straight from Holy Scripture, some people consider this a controversial idea. Why? Why, indeed? Where did that perspective come from?

Shouldn’t church be a place where we find answers to life’s questions?
Shouldn’t the messages lead us to living a better life? The life GOD intended us to live?

The truth is, we process our world through our thoughts.
There is a secular worldview, and a biblical worldview.

Our perspective (our worldview) on life is our filter for how we interpret the experiences, challenges and situations we face.

“Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

God's will… is good and pleasing and perfect.”

As we draw closer and closer to Holy Week, it is good to remember what Jesus said He was going to accomplish for us.

1 John 3:8 - The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.

Still have a ways to go before you feel like that is what you’re experiencing in your life?

“ …let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.”
Are you ready for some transformation today?

A mindset of gratitude is the best place for us to start our transformation.

If you really want to become grateful – to live a life of gratitude – it is easy to do.

(count your blessings) Basic Health. My voice.

It’s something I guess I just would normally take for granted.
What are some things YOU may be taking for granted?

We need our minds – and we need our bodies. We are three-part beings.

All created by GOD – all designed by our Creator to work together to give glory and honor to Him.

“ …let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.”

We are transformed by the renewing of our minds. But how do we let God do that?
Hearing – Reading – Meditating

Joshua 1:8 - Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

Here is our transformation (Bible)
We must read it – absorb it – internalize it – personalize it

Faith comes by hearing and hearing and hearing

Then we put action to that faith and make it real.

I hear. I see. (I believe) I do. “shuīdào zuò dào” “Say it, DO it.”


“Information without emotion is not retained.”

We can start with simple gratitude that we have His Word as our guide.

Jesus said: Sanctify them with Your Truth… God’s Word is the Truth.
Jesus said “the TRUTH shall make you free.”

Before you can KNOW the truth you gotta HEAR the truth.
What you hear – what you listen to – whether with your ears or with your mind – needs to be the truth.
We live in a world of double-talk and deception. “Gaslighting”

We now continually hear about how something we were first told on the news later turns out not to be true.
Who can you trust in 2023?

Another question: Is there a problem you need to solve?

Would you be willing to put your trust in God’s Word for your answers? (?)

Is there a challenge you just can’t seem to overcome?
Is there anything too hard for GOD?

“I’ve tried everything!” (everything?)

You’ve got to learn to apply God’s Word to your specific situation and then stick with it.

Doubt vs Faith (feed your faith – starve your doubts)

As believers we were all given the gift of faith, but our minds can create limiting beliefs
What are your thoughts telling you about your situations?

We sometimes literally need what people call a “Come to Jesus” moment

“The TRUTH is…”

What are we telling ourselves about ourselves?
What VOICE are you really listening to?

It’s time to replace the self-limiting, disempowering beliefs and limitations that are holding you back from being who GOD said you should be.

You have to finally come to the realization that not EVERY thought that goes through your head is true.

Your thoughts shape you – but OU are not your thoughts

We find our best answers when we are in a resourceful state. The posture of faith

Where is your struggle today? What are you trying to overcome?
Really ask yourself this. Really wait for an answer

The posture of faith is a stance of uncompromised faith in God’s Word and His power to solve any crisis you have.

Jesus said “Ask and ye shall receive”

What are you asking for? (ask the right questions)
“How do I know there is a solution to this current crisis?”

James 5:12 – “let your "Yes" be yes, and your "No," no”
Job says “you shall decry a thing and it shall be established”

“They overcame (to get the better of, to gain the superiority) by the blood of the lamb…”

Stand Up. Posture of Faith.
Look Up. Step Up.
2 Cor 10:5: “capture every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

“The TRUTH is…”

When your soul is famished and withering, He fills you with good and beautiful things, satisfying you as long as you live. He makes you strong like an eagle, ...
