Think On Good Things 思考 美物
Phil 4:8 – Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

On
Good
Things
Phil
4:6-9
Last
week
was
my
birthday
week.
(thank
you
for
all
the
kind
words
and
wishes)
One
thing
did
to
“launch”
this
new
year
–
this
(hopefully)
next
and
better
phase
of
my
life
was
to
spend
time
away
and
set
some
new
goals
and
objectives.
To
identify
areas
that
needed
work
and
improvement.
One
of
these
areas
was
“eliminate
distractions”
–
which
I
identified
first
as
social
media.
There
are
times
when
it
is a
blessing
–
such
as
being
able
to
share
the
weekly
Bible
lesson
online
through
at
least
three
different
outlets
(Facebook,
Youtube
and
WeChat)
-
but
some
of
it
is
unnecessary,
and
maybe
even
counterproductive.
…it
can
even
be
destructive.
Today’s
scripture:
"Keep
your
thoughts
continually
fixed
on
all
that
is
authentic
and
real,
honorable
and
admirable,
beautiful
and
respectful,
pure
and
holy,
merciful
and
kind.
And
fasten
your
thoughts
on
every
glorious
work
of
God,
praising
him
always".
those
words
“continually
fixed
“
tell
me
this
is a
lifetime
challenge.
The
enemy
of
your
thought
life
is
not
all-powerful,
but
he
is
persistent.
We
must
be
diligent.
The
Word
of
God
tells
us
we
are
charged
with
the
responsibility
of
guarding
our
thoughts
–
and
focusing
on
the
proper
things
–
the
truth.
The
Son
God,
the
Anointed
One,
the
Savior
of
the
world,
the
One
Who
tell
us
He
is
“the
way,
the
truth
and
the
light”
also
tells
us
that
he
came
that
we
“might
have
Life
and
Life
More
Abundantly.”
The
Bible
tells
us
to
be
transformed
by
the
renewing
of
our
minds,
and
in
order
to
do
that,
we
have
to
disrupt
our
old
patterns
of
thinking,
our
routines,
our
comfort
zones.
(new
wine
goes
into
new
wine
skins)
?
Are
you
willing
to
do
that?
“The
comfort
zone
isn’t
the
actual
life
we
(really)
want.”
If
we
keep
thinking
the
same
things
in
the
same
way,
“The
familiar
past
will
sooner
or
later
be
predictable
future.”
Solomon:
Guard
your
heart
(your
soul)
because
out
of
it
will
flow
your
life
(be
careful
what
you
upload
to
your
soul)
John
Wesley
would
often
ask
his
circuit-riding
clergy
-
“How
is
it
with
your
soul?”

2:
Beloved,
I
pray
that
you
may
prosper
in
all
things
and
be
in
health,
just
as
your
soul
prospers.
So
there
is a
correlation
between
the
state
of
our
soul
and
the
state
of
our
well-being.
Psalm
139:14:
I
praise
you
because
I am
fearfully
and
wonderfully
made.
Your
works
are
wonderful,
and
my
soul
knows
that
very
well.
“I
carry
this
knowledge
deep
within
my
soul.”
“I
know
it
with
all
my
heart.”
He
who
gets
wisdom
loves
his
own
soul;
He
who
keeps
understanding
will
find
good.
(good
things)
?
Does
your
soul
expect
“good
things”
from
God?
Are
you
ready
and
willing
to
“think
on
good
things?”
“Seek
and
ye
shall
find”
“Is
anyone
thirsty?
Come
and
drink”
“For
the
Lord
is
Good…”
Some
people
are
young
all
their
days.
Other
people
are
old
at
25.
Psalm
103:5:
“ …
who
satisfies
your
desires
with
good
things
so
that
your
youth
is
renewed
like
the
eagle’s.”
In
order
to
have
faith
for
these
good
things,
you
have
to
be
present
in
this
moment.
This
day.
You
have
to
determine
that
this
is
the
only
day
you
have.
It’s
a
choice
to
live
from
this
moment
forward.
You
can
live
from
your
past,
shaping
today
and
even
your
future
based
on
past
experiences,
or
decide
(choose)
that
being
full
present
is
the
wisest
option.
“The
familiar
past
will
sooner
or
later
be
predictable
future.”
You
can
choose
your
thoughts
just
like
you
would
pick
out
the
shirt
you’re
going
to
wear.
You
choose.
“I
choose”
“The
enemy
is
not
in
charge
of
your
life.”
The
thoughts
that
randomly
come
into
your
head
do
not
have
to
find
a
home.
When
I
was
at
the
retreat
center,
I
was
sitting
quietly,
meditating
on
God’s
Word,
and
a
bug
was
determined
to
make
my
knee
his
new
home
I
had
to
“shoo”
him
away
more
than
once.
Those
thoughts
in
your
head
that
don’t
line
up
with
the
Truth…
YOU
can
“shoo”
them
away.
You
can
change
the
channel.
2
Cor
10:5:
We
can
demolish
every
deceptive
fantasy
that
opposes
God
and
break
through
every
arrogant
attitude
that
is
raised
up
in
defiance
of
the
true
knowledge
of
God.
We
capture,
like
prisoners
of
war,
every
thought
and
insist
that
it
bow
in
obedience
to
the
Anointed
One.
We
have
spiritual
weapons
that
have
divine
power.
“Casting
down
imaginations”
Set
your
heart.
Tell
your
soul
to
expect
the
Good
Things
God
wants
for
you.
•
Don’t
let
the
enemy
of
your
soul
have
free
rent
in
your
head.
Give
him
his
eviction
notice.
Let
your
mind
be
renewed
to
expect
Good
Things.
GOD
is
bringing
Good
Things…
…and
it
may
also
be
NEW
Things
Don’t
be
limited
by
expectations
that
force
everything
into
a
mental
mold
– or
an
expectation
based
on
the
past
Martin
Luther
wasn’t
trying
to
start
a
NEW
movement
when
he
posted
the
95
thesis
–
but
that
wasn’t
GOD’s
plan
or
intention
John
Wesley
wasn’t
trying
to
start
a
new
denomination
when
he
started
the
Holiness
movement
in
England
–
but
that
wasn’t
GOD’s
plan
or
intention
At
that
time,
they
were
both
focused
on
reforming
that
which
already
existed
That
which
already
was
(are
you
listening?)
?
Are
we
thinking
fear
thoughts
or
faith
thoughts?
Not
given
us a
spirit
of
fear

John
4:18:
Love
never
brings
fear,
for
fear
is
always
related
to
punishment.
But
love’s
perfection
drives
the
fear
of
punishment
far
from
our
hearts.
Whoever
walks
constantly
afraid
of
punishment
has
not
reached
love’s
perfection.
?
How
much
of
our
future
(our
jobs,
our
families,
our
church
growth)
are
we
basing
on
our
familiar
past
experiences?
The
author
and
finisher
of
our
faith
is
ready
to
write
a
brand
new
chapter
(so
we
need
to
stop
reading
the
past
chapter.
consider
it a
closed
book)
Isn’t
that
called
Grace
for
a
New
day?
If
you’re
seeking
transformation
in
your
life,
God’s
infallible
Word
holds
a
KEY:
“Finally,
brothers
and
sisters,
whatever
is
true,
whatever
is
noble,
whatever
is
right,
whatever
is
pure,
whatever
is
lovely,
whatever
is
admirable—if
anything
is
excellent
or
praiseworthy—think
about
such
things.”
Commit
your
future
to
“An
unconditional
willingness
– a
readiness
to
change.”
…That
you
will
indeed
become
the
person
God
wants
you
to
be.
“Lord
God
– I
am
willing
to
change.”
Cultivate
a
constant
state
of
“I’m
ready
to
change”
A
way
of
living
and
being.
“Less
of
me –
more
of
YOU”
“I
am
passionate
about
the
changes
YOU
want
to
bring
about
in
my
life.”
Psalm
84:11:
Those
who
walk
along
his
paths
with
integrity
will
never
lack
one
thing
they
need,
for
he
provides
it
all
What
is
the
path
we
need
to
follow?
“fill
your
minds
with
those
things
that
are
good
and
that
deserve
praise:
things
that
are
true,
noble,
right,
pure,
lovely,
and
honorable.”
“
…no
good
thing
will
he
withhold
from
them
that
walk
uprightly.”
It’s
not
about
overnight
perfection
–
it’s
about
going
beyond
who
we
were
-
it’s
about
incremental
steps
of
faith
–
pressing
on
toward
the
mark
of
the
high
calling
of
God
in
Christ
Jesus.
It’s
a
transformation
that
includes,
“whatever
is
honorable,
whatever
is
just,
whatever
is
pure,
whatever
is
lovely,
whatever
is
commendable,
if
there
is
any
excellence,
if
there
is
anything
worthy
of
praise,
think
about
these
things.”
Psalm
34:10:
“
…those
who
seek
the
LORD

who

your

good
things

that
your
youth
is
renewed
like
the

What
GOD
Can
DO.”

goodness

things)

Do
you
have
a
posture
of
faith
and
expectation
for
good
things
in
your
life?
Do
you
believe?
David
said,
“I
would
have
lost
heart,
(been
without
hope)
unless
I
had
believed
that
I
would
see
the
goodness
of
the
LORD
(Good
Things)
In
the
land
of
the
living.”
(Psalm
27:13)
He
told
this
to
his
soul
