SEASONS
Ecclesiastes
3:1-8
Whenever
I
have
to
help
someone
move
–
especially
when
lifting
the
heavy
things
– I
think,
“You
know,
it
would
have
been
great
of I
had
been
going
to
the
gym
and
getting
stronger
before
this
day
came.”
Woulda

Shoula
We
have
to
prepare
in
advance
for
things
that
are
yet
to
come
There
are
seasons
of
preparation
and
seasons
that
should
reflect
completion
This
year
it
seems
the
season
of
summer
came
way
too
early.
Last
week
we
said:
From
the
beginning
of
God’s
Word
we
read
in
Genesis:
"As
long
as
the
earth
endures,
seedtime
and
harvest…”
We
all
understand
the
four
seasons
of
the
year
–
but
what
about
other
seasons
the
Bible
tells
us
about?
seedtime
and
harvest
are
seasons.
both
real
–
but
both
with
different
purposes
and
impact.
Ecc
3:1:
To
every
thing
there
is a
season,
and
a
time
to
every
purpose
under
the
heaven
Seasons
Change.
We
have
to
be
sober
minded
and
observe
and
become
aware
Jesus
said,
“Now
learn
this
lesson
from
the
fig
tree:
As
soon
as
its
twigs
get
tender
and
its
leaves
come
out,
you
know
that
summer
is
near.”
(Matt
24:32)
Prov
10:5:
A
wise
youth
makes
hay
while
the
sun
shines,
but
what
a
shame
to
see
a
lad
who
sleeps
away
his
hour
of
opportunity.
NOT
observing
the
changing
seasons
can
bring
regret.
Some
regrets
may
be
simple
–
and
we
can
brush
them
off
“I
wish
I
had
set
my
alarm.”
“I
wish
I
had
remembered
to
buy
milk.”
Other
regrets
are
deep
and
painful
“I
wish
I
had
told
them
I
loved
them.”
“I
wish
I
had
told
them
I
had
forgiven
them.”
“I
wish
I
hadn’t
said
what
I
said.”
NOT
observing
the
changing
seasons
can
bring
great
regret.
Prov
20:4:
Some
people
are
too
lazy
to
plant
seeds.
So
at
harvest
time,
they
look
for
food
and
find
nothing.
There
are
seasons
to
recognize
and
observe
in
our
lives
Our
natural
lives.
Our
spiritual
lives.
There
are
seasons
in
our
society.
In
our
nation.
Our
world.
…and
there
are
seasons
in
the
Kingdom
of
God.
Romans
13:11:
And now
consider this.
You
know
well
the
times you
are
living
in.
It
is
time
for
you
to
wake
up and
see
what
is
right
before
your
eyes:
for
salvation
is
nearer
to
us
now
than
when
we
first
believed.
Ecc
3:1:
To
every
thing
there
is a
season,
and
a
time
to
every
purpose
under
the
heaven
“To
every
thing
there
is a
season”
I
believe
(as
the
scriptures
verify)
that
we
are
always
in
some
type
of
season
–
season
of
preparation
and
seasons
that
should
reflect
completion
You
can’t
have
satisfactory
completion
without
proper
preparations
In
Gen
41,
God
revealed
to
Joseph
that
there
would
be
seven
years
of
abundance
and
seven
years
of
famine.
Joseph
advised
the
Pharaoh
to
store
and
prepare
during
the
good
years
to
prepare
for
the
famine
that,
as
scripture
describes,
“the
abundance
in
the
land
will
not
be
remembered,
because
the
famine
that
follows
will
be
so
severe.”
So
that
is
exactly
what
they
did.
Because
Joseph
was
aware
of
the
season,
and
obeyed
God,
not
only
was
Egypt
saved,
but
Genesis
tells
us,
“all
the
world
came
to
Egypt
to
buy
grain
from
Joseph,
because
the
famine
was
severe
everywhere.”
Had
Joseph
not
responded,
all
would
have
been
lost.
How
great
–
how
painful
–
would
that
regret
have
been?
God
guided
him
to
take
the
proper
steps
to
prepare.
To
work
in
the
proper
season.
Prov
6:6-8:
Go
to
the
ant,
you
sluggard;
consider
its
ways
and
be
wise! It
has
no
commander,
no
overseer
or
ruler,
yet
it
stores
its
provisions
in
summer
and
gathers
its
food
at
harvest.
The
Word
of
God
clearly
directs
us
to
observe
the
seasons
and
prepare
–
and
not
juts
coast
passively
through
our
lives.
What
we
have
covered
so
far
is
practical
and
natural.
But
there
is
certainly
a
spiritual
side
to
our
preparations,
as
well
Ecc
3:1:
To
every
thing
there
is a
season,
and
a
time
to
every
purpose
under
the
heaven
Amos
8:11
-
“The
days
are
coming,”
declares
the
Sovereign Lord,
“when
I
will
send
a
famine
through
the
land—
not
a
famine
of
food
or a
thirst
for
water,
but
a
famine
of
hearing
the
words
of
the Lord.”
How
should
we
be
preparing
–
how
should
we
now
be
storing
up?
2
Tim
2:15:
Study and do
your
best
to
present
yourself
to
God
approved,
a
workman
[tested
by
trial]
who
has
no
reason
to
be
ashamed,
accurately
handling and skillfully
teaching
the
word
of
truth.
When
you
squeeze
and
orange
you
get
________________
?
What
comes
out
of
you
when
the
pressures
of
life
squeeze
you
hard?
?
Are
you
filling
your
tank
with
the
proper
spiritual
nutrition?
How
can
we
hear
from
the
Lord
if
we
are
not
listening
– if
we
are
not
letting
His
Word
speak
to
our
hearts?
For
everything
there
is a
season,
a
time
for
every
activity
under
heaven.
We
must
not
miss
our
season
to
hear
from
God
– to
respond
to
that
still,
small
voice
of
the
Holy
Spirit
Isaiah
55:6
-
Seek
the Lord while
you
can
find
him.
Call
on
him
now
while
he
is
near.
“So
turn
your
attention
and seek
the
Eternal
One
while
it
is
still
possible;
call
on
Him
while
He
is
nearby.”
This
seems
to
indicate
there
is a
finite
window
of
opportunity
for
us –
-
a
window
of
His
Grace
As
it
says
in
Hebrews
(quoting
the
Psalmist,)
“Today,
if
you
hear
his
voice,
do
not
harden
your
hearts”
To
every
thing
there
is a
season,
and
a
time
to
every
purpose
under
the
heaven
There
are
always
seasons.
Seasons
change.
Seasons
end.
“It’s
better
to
know
Him
before
you
meet
Him”
Romans
10:9
-
“If
you
declare
with
your
mouth,
‘Jesus
is
Lord,’
and
believe
in
your
heart
that
God
raised
him
from
the
dead,
you
will
be
saved”
Acts
4:12
-
And
there
is salvation in
no
one
else,
for there
is
no
other name
under
heaven
given
among
men by
which
we
must
be
saved.”
Romans
10:13
-
“Everyone
who
calls
on
the
name
of
the
Lord
will
be
saved.”
Will
you
call
on
Jesus
today?
To
everything
there
is a
season.
One
day
this
door
–
this
season
–
will
end.
Romans
13:12:
Night
is
almost
over,
and
day
will
soon
appear.
We
must
stop
behaving
as
people
do
in
the
dark
and
be
ready
to
live
in
the
light
