     Two Songs  两首歌

Col 3:12-17: Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
(page 1911)
Col 2:6,7: So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
    歌 羅 西 書 2:6,7: 所以,正如你们接受了耶稣为基督和主一样,你们应该继续生活在他之中。 扎根于他,让他成为你们的基石。要像教导你们的那样,加强信仰,对上帝洋溢着感激之情 (page 1910)
    Eph 3:20 - Glory to God, who is able to do far beyond all that we could ask or imagine by his power at work within us;
    以弗所书 3:20: 上帝的能力运行在我们里面,能够丰丰富富地成就一切,超过我们所求所想的。(page 1897)

     Two Songs

    Col 3:12-17

I had a day off last Tuesday.
I still got up quite early, and decided to sit outside with my bible and a cup of coffee and juts take it slow for a change.
As I sat in silence, I became aware of two different sets of sounds
One was the sounds of highway traffic – all the hustle and bustle of people who were rushing off to work
The other was the sound of birds singing in my backyard
It reminded me of my trips to the Ignatius House in Atlanta.
The Ignatius House Retreat Center offers 20 acres of lush and secluded forest along the Chattahoochee River near Atlanta. 11/2 miles of walking trails

It is just a stone’s throw from I-285, so if you don’t focus on the peaceful serenity of facility, you’ll gradually start to hear the traffic sounds in the not-so-far way distance,.
Everything in life is like that. What will you tune our eyes and ears to?
What sounds / what voice will you listen to?

John 6:68 - Simon Peter: Lord, if we were to go, whom would we follow? You speak the words that give everlasting life.
What music will you dance to (in life?)

I feel like today’s scripture lesson from Colossians 3 is a good guidebook for living the Christian life.
Col 3:15 seems to sum it all up: And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.

(MSG) “So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.
Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. None of this going off and doing your own thing. And cultivate thankfulness. Let the Word of Christ—the Message—have the run of the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way.”
This sounds like a pretty good way to live our lives.

Again, vs 15: Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
“Gratitude helps you to grow and expand; gratitude brings joy and laughter into your life and into the lives of all those around you.”

What we look for we will find. When we follow God’s plan as described in this chapter of Colossians, we create an atmosphere that God can bless.

Col 2:6,7: So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

There is a lot happening right now that can cause us to become distressed. Overwhelmed.
All we can seemingly do is what it all fall apart

But we are not of this world. We are Kingdom people.
    Ambassadors for Christ
I heard a minister say the other day, “God is now going to settle your life.”

I received that for myself. Do you receive it today?

“God, I believe you are settling my life”
    “Sorted” “My Heart is Fixed”

    Eph 3:20 - Glory to God, who is able to do far beyond all that we could ask or imagine by his power at work within us;

As Joel says, we have to go from being a victim to being a victor
…and we don’t do it using the same methods the world uses

Philippians 4:13… And I find that the strength of Christ’s explosive power infuses me to conquer every difficulty.

So, despite what we see going on arounds us, we are not about to just shut down and go hide under a rock until something changes …. or until Jesus returns

I learned several decades ago that just because we think we know God’s timetable, “tain’t necessarily so.”
As Jesus taught us in his parables, we are to “occupy until he returns”

Jesus said in Matt 24:46 - Blessings on you if I return and find you faithfully doing your work.

Choose you this day whom you will serve
What will you tune our eyes and ears to?
What sounds / what voice will you listen to?
What music will you dance to (in life?)
