Healing Comes By Hearing

Matthew 4:23,24

Psalm 68:19 - Praise the Lord; praise God our savior!
For each day he carries us in his arms.
My healing journey has been a progressive event. Starting 10 days ago and into the first part of the week, I was not much good to the world

Job: "I am but a shadow of my former self.”
You might think I would have spent all that down time studying the scriptures and great writings of the early saints, but you would also be disappointed to know I did not do much more than lay there like zombie (or a mannequin)
Jesus: “The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
“When people succeed, they party. When people fail, they ponder.”
When I get sick, the first thing I do is ponder. What did I do to create this? What should I have done better? How can I avoid this ever happening again?
Even more urgently – “What can I do now to get my life back? To get healed?”
There are things to do in the natural (the leaves are for healing)
When we come boldly before the throne of Grace to find mercy and help in our time of need, we don’t come to Jesus with our list of accomplishments.
…we come to Him just as we are, remembering that Jesus paid it all (for us)
Matt 8:14-17: When Jesus arrived at Peter’s house, Peter’s mother-in-law was sick in bed with a high fever. But when Jesus touched her hand, the fever left her. Then she got up and prepared a meal for him. That evening many demon-possessed people were brought to Jesus. He cast out the evil spirits with a simple command, and he healed all the sick. This fulfilled the word of the Lord through the prophet Isaiah, who said, “He took our sicknesses and removed our diseases.”
We remember and declare: “Jesus paid it all”
reputation: the beliefs or opinions that are generally held about someone or something.
a widespread belief that someone or something has a particular habit or characteristic.
word of mouth is either a powerfully constructive or destructive tool toward building or tearing down a reputation

It’s usually the best form of advertising - whether it’s a restaurant, a movie, a church – or even a Savior Who can do miracles.

News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed; and he healed them.

His fame spread everywhere! Many people who were in pain and suffering with every kind of illness were brought to Jesus for their healing—epileptics, paralytics, and those tormented by demonic powers were all set free. Everyone who was brought to Jesus was healed!

We “hear” all kinds of things. “Like” 20 times in one sentence.
But sometimes what we hear can change our life forever.

Romans 10:17 - So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
(Living) Yet faith comes from listening to this Good News—the Good News about Christ.

The Body of Christ deserves to walk in healing, health and wholeness…
…because Jesus paid the price for us to have it.

God’s Word is Life unto our flesh
Jesus said: “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you--they are full of the Spirit and life.”

“Healing Comes Through Hearing”

The news about him spread through the whole country of Syria, so that people brought to him all those who were sick, suffering from all kinds of diseases and disorders: people with demons, and epileptics, and paralytics—and Jesus healed them all.

Three factors in receiving (your) healing:
1. Everything we receive from God we receive by faith (believe)
2. It is according to our knowledge of Him
3. Faith comes by hearing
Isaiah 53 prophesied that this about Jesus:
“He was wounded for our rebellious acts.
He was crushed for our sins.
He was punished so that we could have peace,
and we received healing from his wounds”

The chapter begins with this question: “Who has believed our message?”

1. Heb 12:3 – “ …according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”
as a Child of God – you have the faith you need to get started.

2. 2 Peter 1:3 - “According as His Divine Power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him that hath called us to glory and virtue”
“through the knowledge of Him”

What do we know about our New Covenant? What do we really believe about Jesus? Jesus is our New Covenant

Everything we can be provided through our New Covenant comes to us “through the knowledge of Him”
3. Faith comes by hearing…

Acts 2:32 - "God raised Jesus from the dead, and we are all witnesses of this.”

Romans 8:11 (read together) “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”

Selah. Is Christ in YOU?

If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

Because of this truth, we should not only be walking in our healing, but we should also be ministering healing to others as well.

Mark 16:17 “These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe…”
vs 18: “They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed."

Peter said to the lame man: “Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.”

You have to have faith in the finished work of the cross to be this bold in your actions – and you have to know it is Christ in you – and not you.

It also takes a knowledge of God’s grace to receive and give healing.

We have to stop trying to earn it. We have to get beyond our “works” mentality

Romans 8:1,2: “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.”

God is not withholding from you today.

As a Child of God – where is God’s heart toward you and me today?
Romans 8:32 – “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all--how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?”

3. Faith comes by hearing

If we believe God’s Word is true for us today (?) then we can embrace by faith all of His promises and step out in faith to receive and to give.

Can you apply your faith today for others and for yourself?
Can we choose to operate as the Body of Christ – here today for ourselves and for each other – and see God work in and through us?

Mark 16:17 “These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe…”
vs 18: “They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed."

WE are HIS people…
“If GOD is a healing GOD - Then WE are the Healed People.”

It doesn’t matter where we’ve been – it matters eternally where we go from here.

The news about Him spread through the whole country of Syria
—and Jesus healed them all.
