Gal
4:4-5
Psalm
139:23-24:
Search
me,
God,
and
know
my
heart;
test
me
and
know
my
anxious
thoughts.
See
if
there
is
any
offensive
way
in
me,
and
lead
me
in
the
way
everlasting.
Mandarin
translation:
“lead
me
in
the
eternal
path”
We
all
have
these
moments
of
overwhelm
–
for
whatever
reason
–
where
we
need
to
just
lay
it
all
at
Jesus’
feet
and
find
rest
from
the
storms
of
life
…and
maybe
to
find
help
to
rise
up
from
our
own
human
condition
Last
Wednesday
morning,
in
my
early-morning
prayertime,
I
had
one
of
those
mid-week
overwhelms.
Feeling
that
sense
of
overload
–
and
more
than
a
little
bit
of
disappointment
and
discouragement
over
my
lack
of
progress
on
my
to-do
lists.
All
I
could
do
was
just
give
it
all
over
to
God.
I
saw
my
need
–
and
I
recognized
my
own
weakness.
It
was
in
that
same
prayer
time
that
God
just
poured
His
love
out
on
me.
His
Presence
and
Peace
washed
away
my
anxiety
and
I
knew
His
strength
was
there
IN
my
weakness
to
accomplish
what
needed
to
be
done.
And
may
to
put
to
the
side
some
things
that
didn’t
need
to
be
on
my
plate
anyway.
(can
you
relate?)
Everyone
has
their
Wednesday
morning
of
overwhelm
Their
Midweek
-
Midlife
-
Mid-moment
At
that
point,
we
have
to
acknowledge
our
humanity
–
even
as
much
as
it
hurts
If
we
weren’t
human,
we
wouldn’t
have
needed
a
savior
1
Cor
1:18:
The
message
about
the
cross
doesn't
make
any
sense
to
lost
people.
But
for
those
of
us
who
are
being
saved,
it
is
God's
power
at
work.
…and
we
are
“being
saved”
We
need
daily
grace
It
is
hard
sometimes
for
people
of
faith
to
admit
their
humanness.
We
want
to
rise
above
ourselves,
even
though
we
need
Jesus
to
be
the
one
to
lift
us
up
(daily)
As
much
as
we
strive
for
perfection,
the
reality
is
we
will
always
have
our
humanity
as
part
of
who
were
are
as
press
on
toward
the
mark.
Isn’t
it
wonderful
to
know
God
understands
our
humanity?
“Jesus
knows
our
every
weakness,
take
it
too
the
Lord
in
prayer.”
The
key
thing
is
for
us
to
understand
that
GOD
has
already
made
provision
to
complement
every
form
of
weakness
we
may
have.
To
replace
them
with
His
strength.
Don't
dwell
on
your
weaknesses.
Dwell
on
the
provision
God
has
already
made
to
help
you
succeed.
God
understands
our
humanity.
He
will
never
leave
you
without
help.
As
we
recognize
our
humanity
and
our
need
for
a
savior
- we
also
need
to
become
willing
to
bring
our
weaknesses
to
those
people
who
can
encourage
us –
pray
for
us –
and
who
are
leading
the
Body
of
Christ
by
their
life’s
example.
James
5:16
-
Admit
your
faults
to
one
another
and
pray
for
each
other
so
that
you
may
be
healed.
As
we
get
closer
to
Advent,
we
think
about
the
message
of
the
season
–
Emmanuel
–
God
with
us.
God
took
on
the
form
of
man
and
lived
among
us.
John
1:14
-
The
Word
became
a
human
being.
He
made
his
home
with
us.
We
have
seen
his
glory.
It
is
the
glory
of
the
One
and
Only,
who
came
from
the
Father.
And
the
Word
was
full
of
grace
and
truth.
The
humanity
of
Jesus
is
as
equally
important
as
the
deity
of
Jesus.
Jesus
was
born
as a
human
being
while
still
being
totally
divine.
The
concept
of
the
humanity
of
Jesus
co-existing
with
His
deity
is
difficult
for
the
finite
mind
of
man
to
comprehend.
Nevertheless,
Jesus’
nature—wholly
man
and
wholly
God—is
a
biblical
fact.
There
are
those
who
reject
these
biblical
truths
and
declare
that
Jesus
was
a
man,
but
not
God.
There
is
also
the
viewpoint
that
says
Jesus
was
God,
but
not
human.
Both
viewpoints
are
unbiblical
and
false.
Jesus
had
to
be
born
as a
human
being
for
several
reasons.
One
is
outlined
in
Galatians
4:4–5:
“But
when
the
time
had
fully
come,
God
sent
his
Son,
born
of a
woman,
born
under
law,
to
redeem
those
under
law,
that
we
might
receive
the
full
rights
of
sons.”
Only
a
man
could
be
“born
under
the
law.”
No
animal
or
angelic
being
is
“under
the
law.”
Only
humans
are
born
under
the
law,
and
only
a
human
being
could
redeem
other
human
beings
born
under
the
same
law.
Born
under
the
law
of
God,
all
humans
are
guilty
of
transgressing
that
law.
Only
a
perfect
human—Jesus
Christ—could
perfectly
keep
the
law
and
perfectly
fulfill
the
law,
thereby
redeeming
us
from
that
guilt.
Jesus
accomplished
our
redemption
on
the
cross,
exchanging
our
sin
for
His
perfect
righteousness
2
Corinthians
5:21:
For
God
made
Christ,
who
never
sinned,
to
be
the
offering
for
our
sin,
so
that
we
could
be
made
right
with
God
through
Christ.
“…so
that
in
him
we
might
become
the
righteousness
of
God.”
“we
are
made
right
with
God
because
of
what
Christ
has
done
for
us.”
Another
reason
Jesus
had
to
be
fully
human
is
that
God
established
the
necessity
of
the
shedding
of
blood
for
the
remission
of
sins
Hebrews
9:22:
without
the
shedding
of
blood
there
is
no
forgiveness
of
sins.
The
blood
of
animals,
although
acceptable
on a
temporary
basis
as a
foreshadowing
of
the
blood
of
the
perfect
God-Man,
was
insufficient
for
the
permanent
remission
of
sin
because
“it
is
impossible
for
the
blood
of
bulls
and
goats
to
take
away
sins”
(Hebrews
10:4).
Jesus
Christ,
the
perfect
Lamb
of
God,
sacrificed
His
human
life
and
shed
His
human
blood
to
cover
the
sins
of
all
who
would
ever
believe
in
Him.
If
He
were
not
human,
this
would
have
been
impossible.
Hebrews
4:15:
“For
we
do
not
have
a
high
priest
who
is
unable
to
sympathize
with
our
weaknesses,
but
we
have
one
who
has
been
tempted
in
every
way,
just
as
we
are—yet
was
without
sin”
Only
a
human
could
sympathize
with
our
weaknesses
and
temptations.
In
His
humanity,
Jesus
was
subjected
to
all
the
same
kinds
of
trials
that
we
are,
and
He
is,
therefore,
able
to
sympathize
with
us
and
to
aid
us.
He
was
tempted;
He
was
persecuted;
He
was
poor;
He
was
despised;
He
suffered
physical
pain;
and
He
endured
the
sorrows
of a
lingering
and
most
cruel
death.
Only
a
human
being
could
experience
these
things,
and
only
a
human
being
could
fully
understand
them
through
experience.
Declaring
that
Jesus
has
come
in
the
flesh
is
the
mark
of a
spirit
from
God,
while
the
Antichrist
and
all
who
follow
him
will
deny
it
1
John
4:2–3:
This
is
how
you
can
know
God’s
Spirit:
Every
spirit
who
confesses
that
Jesus
Christ
came
to
earth
as a
human
is
from
God.
And
every
spirit
who
refuses
to
say
this
about
Jesus
is
not
from
God.
It
is
the
spirit
of
the
enemy
of
Christ,
(the
spirit
of
the
antiChrist)
which
you
have
heard
is
coming,
and
now
he
is
already
in
the
world.
Jesus
has
come
in
the
flesh;
He
is
able
to
sympathize
with
our
human
frailties;
His
human
blood
was
shed
for
our
sins;
and
He
was
fully
God
and
fully
Man.
These
are
biblical
truths
that
cannot
be
denied.
Isn’t
it
wonderful
to
know
God
understands
our
humanity?
“Jesus
knows
our
every
weakness,
take
it
too
the
Lord
in
prayer.”
By
embracing
our
humanity
we
see
our
need
for
a
savior.
We
need
a
power
great
than
ourselves.
Recognizing
our
access
to
God’s
grace,
mercy,
strength
and
power,
we
can
look
forward
in
hope.
In
this
brave
new
hope,
we
can
recognize
our
new
chance
–
our
brand-new
moment
in
Christ.
With
a
grateful
heart,
we
should
direct
this
new
hope
towards
greater
levels
of
service
to
our
God.
Being
a
Light.
Being
blessed
to
BE a
blessing
to
others.
