FAITHFUL
1 John 1:5 - 9

Goodness of God, By Bethel Music
I love You, Lord
Oh, Your mercy never fails me
All my days I’ve been held in Your hands
From the moment that I wake up - Until I lay my head
I will sing, of the goodness of God

Cause All my life You have been faithful
All my life You have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able I will sing of the goodness of God
I love Your voice You have led me through the fire
In darkest nights You are close like no other
I’ve known You as a father I’ve known You as a friend
And I have lived in the goodness of God

When I hear those words, “All my life You have been faithful,” it strikes such a deep chord in my heart

It makes me reflect on God’s goodness throughout my life – His faithfulness – His grace and mercy… as well as how I have stumbled and fallen, and every time He picked me back up when I ran back to Him
Lamentations 3:22–23: The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.

Last week we prayed, “Create in me a clean heart”
This week, we will pray, “Create in me a faithful heart.”

God is looking for people whose hearts are turned toward Him.

Psalm 18:25 - To the faithful you show yourself faithful
2 Tim 2:13 - if we are faithless, He remains faithful

God is faithful. His love is unfailing.
The faithful love of the Lord never ends!

Jesus said “According to your faith…”

May the scriptures we share together today build up your faith in the faithfulness of our God.

Heb 11:1: Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses].

KJV “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

What is that substance made of?

Our confidence in the faithfulness of Our GOD

Our faith in the faithfulness of God to keep His Word – His promises to His people

Num 23:19 – God is not a man—He doesn’t lie. God isn’t the son of a man to want to take back what He’s said, Or say something and not follow through, or speak and not act on it.

“Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father
There is no shadow of turning with Thee”

“All I have needed Thy hand hath provided”

We all go through struggles that may truly test our faith.

But…
Your situation doesn’t have the final say; God does!
And He wants to show you His love, His faithfulness, and His goodness!

You’ve got to ignore the circumstances, look past the naysayers, and stir up your faith!

You’ve got to be able to trust in the faithfulness of God to carry you through the situation

Faithfulness is defined as the quality of being loyal and reliable.

1 Thessalonians 5:23,24: Now may the God of peace himself make you completely holy. May your complete spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus the Messiah. The one who calls you is faithful; he will do it.

We are supposed to enter into God’s Divine Rest

Trusting on the faithfulness of God allows us to rest.

The great heroes of the Bible had to come to a place of trust – or resting in God’s faithfulness to His promises

Hebrews 11:11: By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised.
We often hear about Abraham’s faith, but do you know that his wife, Sarah, had faith too? She received divine strength to conceive Isaac, even though by this time, as a woman who had never conceived, she was doubly barren!
How did Sarah find faith? The Bible tells us that she “judged Him faithful who had promised”. She was conscious of the Lord’s faithfulness, not her own faithfulness!
We have to learn to rest in the faithfulness of Jesus. It’s not your faith but His faithfulness—His faithfulness in always loving you and making good on His promise to heal and restore you.
When you find yourself wavering in faith, judge Him faithful and be at rest. He cannot fail you and will do as His Word has promised!

1 Cor 1:9 – God is faithful. He is the one who has chosen you to share life with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Our salvation – our first step of faith-m is based on God’s faithfulness:

1 John 1:9 – “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”


? Have YOU made that first step of faith yet?

To rest in God’s promises – to trust in Jesus’ completed work on the cross – to forgive you, cleanse you, and make your life whole?

Psalm 119:89,90: – Your eternal word, O LORD, stands firm in heaven. Your faithfulness extends to every generation, as enduring as the earth you created.
