“I did my best – but I guess my best wasn’t good enough”

We all deal with criticism – and unfair judgement – from other people.
When someone is two feet away from you and they are whispering to the person, next to them, what is your first thought?

“Why are they gossiping about me?

In reality, it may not have anything to do with you at all, but no one wants to be talked about – at least not criticized.

Of course, we all know who our worst critic really is

“We Have Met the Enemy and He Is Us”

From Friday’s devotional: “As humans, not only do we have a propensity to zoom in on every little flaw in our physical and emotional makeup, but we also have a tendency to know, remember, and replay in our minds the sins, failings, and mistakes we have made. We condemn ourselves for even our smallest flaws instead of focusing on how God really sees us—perfect in Christ.
This is why it takes faith to believe that God sees you righteous. It takes faith to believe that He does not see you in your sins, that He does not observe sin or iniquity in you. It takes faith to believe that He means what He says when He says, “For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more” (Heb. 8:12). It takes faith to believe that God will not remember your failings and mistakes!
But, my sins are staring right at me. How can I have faith to believe that God doesn’t see them?
The KEY to FAITH is found in looking to the source of faith—Jesus.
As the Bible says, “fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith” (Heb. 12:2, NASB). Your faith to believe is found in Jesus! The Amplified Bible puts it this way: “Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection].”
God has made us what we are. In Christ Jesus, God made us new people so that we would spend our lives doing the good things he had already planned for us to do.

Remember from last week…
When we have clarity about our right standing with God through Jesus Christ…

You no longer feel restrained by the opinions of others.
So we need to clear away the distractions and find true clarity
“Create in me a clean heart, o God…”
• A clear hear
• A heart of clarity
• Singleness of purpose and vision

Having more Clarity should directly impact all our daily habits
Your Daily Habits will, by default, directly impact your Behavior.

Your behavior will directly impact your destiny.

It starts with the WHO

We are created – and then we are formed

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God has prepared that we should walk in them.

To better understand this process, we need to go back to the beginning – the real beginning

At the very beginning of the bible we read that “God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him”

Gen 1:27 So God created humans in his own image. He created them to be like himself. He created them male and female.

…and then, in Ch 2 (vs 7) “Then the LORD God formed the man out of the dust from the ground and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils, and the man became a living being.”
We are created – and then we are formed

We’re not going to get too bogged down into this today – we’ll leave that for the theologians.
But we must understand the concept –

Created means to come from nothing into something
Formed is to made out of pre-existing material

Remember – Jesus said (John 3:7,) “Do not be surprised because I tell you that you must all be born again.”

vs 3: “I am telling you the truth: no one can see the Kingdom of God without being born again.”

We know that when we are born again in Jesus Christ, we are a New Creation.

Created means to come from nothing into something

Col 2:13: When you were dead in your sins, you were not set free from the sinful things of the world. But God forgave your sins and gave you new life through Christ.

Before Christ, we are dead… until you are born-again, you are dead

Eph 2:4-6: But even though we were dead in our sins God, who is rich in mercy, because of the great love he had for us, gave us life together with Christ—it is, remember, by grace and not by achievement that you are saved—and has lifted us right out of the old life to take our place with him in Christ in the Heavens.

2 Cor 5:17 - Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation;
the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!

“Anyone who belongs to Christ is a new person. The past is forgotten, and everything is new.”

This is only the START. NOT the Finish Line.

Being FORMED will be a process.

A lifelong journey of faith

Eph 3:17 tells us that Christ will dwell in our hearts through faith
Eph 2:8,9: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
The VOICE translation: “For it’s by God’s grace that you have been saved. You receive it through faith. It was not our plan or our effort. It is God’s gift, pure and simple. You didn’t earn it, not one of us did, so don’t go around bragging that you must have done something amazing.”
We are Created – and then we are Formed

Created means to come from nothing into something
Formed is to made out of pre-existing material

We will need to follow-through on Being Formed for another day – but the Creation step is the foundation – and most important

Jesus: “I am telling you the truth: no one can see the Kingdom of God without being born again.”

? Have YOU been born again?

This is the only hope for humanity.

This is the only true hope for YOU

How much involvement did you have with your first birth?

Born of water… born of Spirit

Romans 10:9,10: …if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

1 Peter 1:23 - You have been born again—not from perishable seed but imperishable—through the living and enduring word of God.

“the word of the Lord endures forever.”
